After Roms expert tutorial I have mastered the art of recoiling and re wicking with cotton. Now everything works ok with them but I'm a bit concerned that when I use them on my vv ego type batteries they get very, very hot.( the clearo ) If I change them to my vamo this doesn't happen. Most of them are coming in with 2.1 ohms....any reason why this is happening please?

Either ego style is over powering or vamo is under powering from the sounds of it. Is there a difference in vape quality On either device?

Whilst ive got my thought train going on this aswell. Could be that the ego style takes longer to neat the coils than the larger vamo. Longer time heating up meaning more residual heat in the atty.
Please will someome stop me if im talkimg crap lol

Sounds like the ego is struggling to power 2.1 ohms

Lpwer resistance then try again

2.1 ohm should be fine on an ego battery. The heads in my original ego kit from ve were 1.8 ohms.
What type of Atty/clearo? What volt/watts on the vamo?

However I have recoiled and re wicked them. I usually run the vamo on 4.3 v....as I say it doesn't get hot on the vamo but gets very hot on the vv egos which I usually have turned up to about 4.5. Is it likely to explode or anything?

Lpwer resistance then try again No don't do this, lower resistance equals more current and power draw and even hotter battery

Is it the battery or the clearo getting hot? If its the clearo getting hot, I don't think it'll explode. I may be wrong though?
It will get hotter on the ego at 4.5 than the vamo at 4.3 due to ohms law. What happens on the vamo at 4.5 and the ego at 4.3?

It's definitely the clearo getting hot ( the metal bit at the bottom ) It never gets hot on the vamo even at 4.8. Or higher. If I run the ego at 3.8 it gets warm...but 3.8. doesn't do much for me

My clearo's get hot every time I vape and the heat transfers through the metal to the mod. Ive thought myself that maybe the battery was getting hot and unscrewed the mod and taken them out only to find they are fine, not even warm.(paranoia setting in when vaping at .2 ohm) Like Greg says lower ohms will put more strain on the battery and cause it to heat up. 2 ohm is 2amps at 4v so I don't think the evod will be unduly stressed at that.

Yeah nothing to worry about - just check the battery and don't lower the ohms on your clearos... hijack is right

Hmmmmm! So the clearo looks like a cross between an evod and ce5. Bottom coil.
Maybe its just the bulk of the vamo is able to sink the heat from the coil. The base of a bcc will get hot - as to how hot, i cant remember. Been a long time since I've used one.
Otherwise, there seems to be a disparity between the output of the 2 devices. Do you have any way of testing the output from the vamo and ego? Do they vape the same at the same voltage?

+1 on what fred says, the big lump of cool metal that is your vamo will draw the heat out of the atty more than the evod will, just like a heatsink.
