Just heard about this on FT's forum, very sad for all the families involved.

Very sad but who the hell flies a passenger jet over a warzone where military aircraft are shot down everyday ? now sit back and watch the opposing sides blame each other .

How absolutely sickening this news is. What a senseless waste of life...and for what? I really think the world is going mad. With apparently 23 Americans on board it won't go unpunished. How sad.

IF, and I stress the IF, this is true... then I hope the person who pressed the button has departed this Earth.

Truly horrific, and my thoughts are with all the families. If it is true that it was shot down then God help the side that did it, because there will be repercussions. Although, all the 'tit for tat', as in the Middle East, just escalates and normally doesn't advance anyone's cause, just causes misery for the innocents.

bbc news was saying that some reports suggest it was allegedly shot down, not confirmed it was shot down but has crashed, will have to wait and see if it was and what the repercussions are it's quite scary really, especially since it has Britons and Americans on board,

This is a tragic event and something that shouldn't have happened.
But why don't the bbc report news as it is anymore. They have to sit on the fence and look at it from this angle and from that angle, its really starting to annoy me that they cant stick there neck out and draw concussions from what is known.
1) passenger airliner falls from sky over a area that is fighting a civil war
2) a tweet appeared at the time it crashed from a group of separatist bragging that they had shot down another Ukrainian military transport.
3) The same group that made this tweet did the same last week when they shot down a military transport.
Why do we have to be told it might have been this or that for the next 7 days when its written in black and white what has happened.
I hope the idiots that did it get whats coming to them.

I'm also very disillusioned with the BBC...as you say they pussy foot around everything....when you watch Fox News a totally different form of broadcasting is given....they use the word Appparently...but give what is thought to be the latest analysis ......plus you'll see much more of World News...we don't here the half of whats going on around the world if you rely on BBC.

I totally agree with you on this. The airline is partially responsible for not using a safer flight path, nobody in right mind would fly right over a war zone.

An Australian couple, Irene Burrows and George Burrows, have lost family members in both of the Malaysia Airlines disasters this year. Their son and daughter-in-law (Rodney and Mary) went missing with flight MH370. Now they have lost more family members with MH17: their son-in-law's daughter and her husband, Maree and Albert Rizk.

That is awful Raffles. I also feel for Malaysian Airways themselves. Such bad luck with both planes...and neither incident their fault. This will surely impact on their trade. I certainly wouldn't book a flight with them at the moment...totally irrational I know but they are in a real " bad luck phase " . Let's just hope that whoever turns out responsible for this tragedy pays heavily for the consequences of their actions.
