Storm pics over my our town

These were put up on FB so grabbed them ,apparently there called Tsunami clouds,very rare to see here,earie but nice Armeggedon scenery

They all scare the **** out of me, especially the first one as it appears to have been taken at dusk, whereas the last one, with a similar formation but taken in daylight, less so. In fact if it was a painting you would say it was beautiful. It's also some years since I've seen so many forks of lightning in one shot.

I heard some thunder late last night and early this morning, but so far it's just been a damp, dreary day here.

We had a belter of a storm on Thursday evening, lasted 2.5 hours and netweather.tv reported 5034 lightning strikes in one hour over Cornwall. Very rare to get such an intense storm, the lightning was almost constant, and some very long forks running horizontal to the ground too. Loads of pics on the BBC Radio Cornwall site if anyone's interested

What I don't get is this - in hotter countries yes they get storms and really bad ones, but they have been boiling for months on end, here a few days of sunshine and
we get rain and storms - why?

We actually didn't get that much thunder, it was glorious then started pi**ing down, the a bit of rumbly grumbly I thought I was hungry, but the lightning well it was still at it from 6pm last night to 6am.

I don't like lightning I got myself into my sexy flanellete pjs, and hid under my 15 tog duvet
