lairey... the Vulcan brings back memories. In my teens I stayed with relations at RAF Cottesmore for a holiday, and my Uncle was quite high up in the pecking order at the base. He swung it for me to get into the cockpit of one of the Vulcans that were based there at the time. Couldn't believe how cramped it was, but a hell of an experience. Didn't manage to get it off the ground though. Plus the price of Double Diamond in the mess. Happy days.

A group of guys in Romsey found it rotting in a hanger and restored it, now they fly it from airshow to airshow. Huge shame that more of them aren't left, but at least we got to see it in it's full glory, noisy bugger that it is!

If anyone gets the chance If you stay on the Brixham (Kingswear) side of the river Dart during the Dartmouth regatta you actually look down on some of the red arrows display, stunning.

Got out yearly fly show coming this August lairey and looking forward to it, i normally miss it but gonna try and see it this time : bournemouthair.co.uk/Bonus is it's only a 10min bus ride away Think we'll be going to that again this year, about an hours drive from where we live. Last year had lovely weather and was ram packed. Loved the 'almost upside down' Chinook and the B52 doing the lap of honour and I can't forget eating Harry Ramsdens fish & chips whilst watching the Red Arrows!!

Can remember when coming 'up North' for the first time in the 70s, and being taken to Harry's first restaurant at Guiseley, by my boss, who lived nearby. I've never had a better meal, or service since. The red and white chequered table cloths, the ginormous servings, a memory savoured. Don't these threads go 'off topic' quickly.

I saw the Red Arrows at Falmouth 3 years ago from the middle of the river bobbing in my kayak with a bottle of Betty Stogs - what finer way there is to watch their display I don't know of!
