the stingray that was ment to be brass but was some sort of ss has now went a mix of everything after sanding it, anyone have any ideas what this metal is? i love how it looks now so warn in and used looking, i sanded all tubes the same amount of time in same direction same sand paper

Looks like it was ncikel then chrome plated.

Most tests to determine the copper alloy type are destructive. They require machining, cutting, filing, acid tests etc. Most non destructive tests require expensive equipment such as a spectrometer.

Best you can really do at home without losing the mod or part of it is to clean it up and compare it to a chart like the one here
