Greg thank you for those links....I really should have known ss would have some somewhere So basically a kayfun is a tank without a separate head thing? (As in protank etc) looks fairly straightforward to do, just practice perhaps? It's now on the wish list. What do people use to test different juices? Now I'm confusing myself.......kayfun first I think

No thanks needed it's all Super-Shiny great work, I'm just pointing you towards them There are better ways to wick the kayfun in my view but well save that for later should you give one a whirl.

Going back to your OP sleedale, I use a really cheap IGO-L dripper for testing, a microcoil is great because you can just whip the cotton wool out and pop in some new every time you change juice - simples. Like the KF the deck is nice and easy to work with, and it has quite a deep well so can take 10 or 12 drops of juice quite easily, enough for about 15 puffs before it needs refilling!

chykensa, again thank you for that info. I'm asking all these questions because I'd like to start mixing my own liquids fairly soon, I like the idea of making my own flavours in strengths I like and as I'm not over bothered about nic strength, I think I could happily mess around with tastes. So that led me to the.....what can I use to try flavours out rather than fill a protank, change wick, fill, change etc cos although it's quite simple to do, it's a bit faffy. So, come next income day, I'm aiming to get the basics for mixing, then I'll look at an igo dripper and a kayfun. Hopefully I'll be on it before my son visits at the end of August so I can show him how much fun it all is too. And I'll get him signed up here whether he wants to or not! So, once again AAEC members, thank you for all your excellent help, advice and friendship. I still can't quite believe that I've finally stopped the cigs, never, ever thought that would happen.

chykensa, again thank you for that info. It's my pleasure, I'm glad I can help! A cheap dripper is a great bit of kit in your vaping box - I don't use mine every day but for juice testing it's really handy, and only takes a couple of minutes to recoil. If you are getting into Kayfuns, then coils will become a natural part of your skillbase and the IGO-L or similar will be a piece of cake! Cotton wool is so cheap, you can afford to replace the wick each time and it will still cost you about one penny per session!

Really helpful thread for me - thanks sleedale as you've asked loads of stuff that I've been wondering recently! I think maybe a Kayfun and learning to recoil (you're a step a head of me in that dept as I've yet to try recoiling!) is where my vaping journey takes me next... I love the taste from my nature vape coils (in nature vape tanks and protank 2) so assume I'd get similar. Or maybe learning to recoil nv heads should be first before moving on. Did you find it easy to do? Have watched a fair few videos - just need to take the plunge!!

spacey just find this guide from supershiny, it makes it all so simple. I don't have a mandrel, just use a small screwdriver shaft which I roughly measured to around 2mm diameter (I think) but I did buy an ohms/volts tester, although if you've got an MVP you can check the ohms with that. We had a blowtorch thing, but others use those power cig lighters or even a gas cooker (we don't have gas!) I've got a NV mini tank and mini protanks too and they are really easy to recoil and wick and it's even easier to change just the wick and dry burn the coils to clean them. Folks on here are so helpful, and the guides make it easier to understand. As everyone says, just go for it. The NV comes with a spare head IIRC, so even if your first one goes wrong you can still vape while you try again, but tbh my first coil worked ok. It's good how threads help lots of people too. Have a go and let us know how you get on.

Thank you sleedale I've been using the same NV coils for 4/5 months (obviously re wicking them frequently!!) and have found that even pulsing/burning the coils before rewicking is no longer getting rid of the black gunk that is under where the coil sits (if that makes sense). I'll have a good read of that link you posted Yep, I do have an MVP to check the ohms (well two MVPs actually....couldn't resist the pretty colours!) so just need the other bits and bobs and I'll be giving it a try...

spacey, gosh, I knew the NV coils were good, but that's amazing. Just an idea, but could you perhaps use a small toothbrush to gently brush the coils after you dry burned them? I've thought about trying this, but tbh making a new coil is so quick........go for it, if you like faffing you'll enjoy it (and enjoy saving money buying the darn things and with a bit of Kanthal in stock you don't run out either. Win, win)

I'm uber chuffed with myself this morning - just managed to get this mini blow torch Tala blow torch totally free!! It was £20 but tesco had a £5 off code which took it to £15 and then using £7.50 worth of club card vouchers - which were doubled in their club card boost offer - left me with a grand total of £0.00 to pay Am on my way to coil building!! Just need some flat nose tweezers with heat resistant grips so I don't burn my fingerprints off
