Hi guys,
Just interested in how people are slowly weaning themselves off nicotine. Has anyone used E Cigarettes to totally quit? If so how did you do it. Do you move slowly down in nicotine over time?

Hi freddo I've only just started to reduce my nicotine and only reduce by 2mg at a time. I'm in no hurry to reduce though as I have a couple of litres in the freezer. I've reduced from 18mg to 16mg without noticing any difference.

Hi guys, Just interested in how people are slowly weaning themselves off nicotine. Has anyone used E Cigarettes to totally quit? If so how did you do it. Do you move slowly down in nicotine over time? I've not smoked for 8mnths after 45years and a short while unsuccessfully on cigalikes. I've been cutting down gradually mixing my own liquids to my own taste/flavour. It helps making a juice that you enjoy and saving so much money. It has also made a massive difference having decent mods and atties to play around with to suit.
Like to think I will be on 0mg by the next new year. But I may stay on the vaping as I enjoy it.
Been so so easy for me.
Like most people, I didn't have a clue of the stuff available out there and the sort of help that can be found on forums like this.

I mix my own so have total control over the strength and flavour of my juices. I started on 18mg and now mix at 10mg, with the odd mix at 8 or even 6mg, although if I'm buying premade I'll still go for 10 or 12mg. The way I look at it, I have given up the tobacco, and I enjoy the vaping thing, along with tinkering with my rebuildables and mixing juice, so don't have any immediate plans to give up completely. I will be stocking up a bit on nicbase, so if the brown stuff hits the whirly thing in 2016 I will be covered for a few years!

Been vaping for just over 2 years now. Started on 12 mg and still on 12 mg. I have no intention of cutting out the nic content...can't see any reason why you would need to? Nicotine is addictive but not harmful....in fact I read an article a while back that said they thought nicotine helped to keep Parkinson's at bay. How true that is I don't know...but there are many studies that have been done that say nicotine is actually not harmful ....however each to their own ....

I started mixing my own about 8/9 months ago, was on 18mg and now down to 10mg by gradually reducing the mix at 1 or 2mg a time. My next mixes will be at 9mg. I find if you don't jump down too quickly at a time then you don't really notice the drop in nicotine. I'm stocked up with a litre of nic base due to the unknown regs coming out in 2016 which should suffice enough for the next few years, especially as I'm reducing nic levels over time Not sure what I'll do if or when I'm down to zero nic, whether I'll stay on e-cigs or not. I do enjoy vaping all the different flavours and I'd probably miss that if I gave it up.

I started on 18mg, and cut down to 12mg when I switched to rebuildables. I tend to buy premixed juice, so it's a little harder to switch down again - the jump to 6mg will be too big, so I need to get into mixing my own to make further progress.
I'd like to cut down eventually but I'm not in any hurry. I enjoy vaping, but having gone through the shinyitis phase I'm starting to remember that it's a means to an end. Assuming the upcoming legislation isn't too draconian, I'll take my time to 0mg and then see where I'm at, but if it becomes difficult I will have to accelerate things.

ionian if you buy a bottle of 18mg and a bottle of 12mg you can mix them together to get 15mg if you wish to cut down more.

I am going 6mg at a time. 24 - 18 - 12 and now 6.
It's not hard, as every time I drop a level, I just carry on as normal. The first few days are a bit dodgy, but then miraculously, I notice I settle down and don't get cravings any earlier (before my next vape) than before.
If I can stop completely I don't know, but on 6mg, I barely have a nicotine addiction i.m.o.

I also mix my own now and go with how I feel - if it feels a bit too strong I go down a step - but as others said - I am not in a hurry - I started with 18mg and am now around 10 ish

Thanks babs - yes indeed, I could do that. I like the idea of making the jump like djs, but my vaping habit is quite different from my smoking habit. When I smoked, I'd have a cigarette every hour or two depending on what I was doing. With vaping, I have a vape when I fancy it. It means that it's rarely far away from me, and I may take a single vape every 10-15 minutes, rather than waiting an hour and then having a series of vapes. I'm a bit worried that this will actually make it harder to stop, as the habit-forming part has become more engrained, even if the nicotine addiction is largely reduced. I may have to change the way I vape if I am to cut down.

Funny how many of us have reached around the 10mg mark and then feel comfortable? I've tried some zero nic testers in a local shop and although pleasant enough to vape, always felt that there was something 'missing'. Guess it was the nicotine, but not convinced that I could cut out the nic altogether just yet. Then again, as padiho mentions above, although nicotine is addictive, there are absolutely no studies to show that it is harmful. Our bodies are programmed to take a small amount of nicotine anyway, as it's in tomatoes, potatoes, and at it's highest in aubergines. I'll just hang on at 10mg for a bit and see how my body adjusts, and drop again if I feel the desire to

So, if we cut out nic altogether all we need to do is stock up with plenty of tomatoes, potatoes and especially aubergines and eat ourselves silly Who needs an e-cig

Well that's me stuffed toots, as there is only one of those three that I like enough to eat, and that's the good ole spud!! I'm already carrying a few pounds too much, and a diet of potatoes won't do me any favours in the midriff department
