try and thread it onto a 510 conector / adapter to give you more purchase, then have at it with pliers and some kitchen roll, cloth or whatever to unscrew the head. Once apart then take rubber grommet off and use pliers to pull the post cap off. You will need to get the head off the base anyway to re-coil. Ruffie. PS: was vaping PT3 with rayon and apple tart at about 7 - 8 watts. 1.9ohm (normal) coil. What is that in volts please?
I usually stay around 4 volts for a coil at 2 ohmish and never had burnt.
7 watts at 1.9 ohms = 3.65 volts (approx) 8 watts at 1.9 ohms = 3.9 volts (approx)

Is it the Version 1 of the VTR with the revolving attie base? These have a slight problem that causes them to give out the wrong voltage on occasions. If that happens, you just need to turn the knurled attie base. The V2 VTR has a fixed knurled attie base to overcome the problem.

Yes it is a v1 then I think. Does adjusting the wattage not adjust the voltage accordingly on this then?

Yes it is a v1 then I think. Does adjusting the wattage not adjust the voltage accordingly on this then? I have an mvp which is wattage and voltage but have never ever used wattage as I am used to voltage, I know between 3.8 and 4.2 volts is good for me. I was under the impression though that if you set wattage mode it kind of somehow knows what ohm the coil is and sets it at what it thinks is the best - whoosh over my head , how can it know???

Yes it is a v1 then I think. Does adjusting the wattage not adjust the voltage accordingly on this then? Yup one automatically overrides the other so if you have the wattage set at a specific level it will check the ohms of the coil and adjust the voltage to match no matter what you previously set the voltage depending on coil resistance which is handy if you change the atomisers frequently to different resistance ones or use different ohm coils. In theory if you find a wattage you like it should automatically adjust the voltage depending on coil resistance but different juice likes different wattage I've found. Unlike voltage mode where you will need to adjust the voltage if you change the coil ohms or swap and change to different atties. I've made it sound complicated but it made sense in my head

Honestly sounds like you were at 5.9v and not 5.9 watts. Most devices would only show volts to 1 decimal place, watts mode normally does 0.5 steps.

It was at 5.9v. I was in wattage mode at around 8w so assumed the voltage would adjust accordingly. For some reason it didn't but it is working ok now.
