I am in the process of recoiling my first kanger head. My problem is that j can't seem to get the old head apart, and don't want to force too much in case I break it. Should the post just pull off?
Thanks

Yes! Don't worry, it will pull apart. Have dry hands or use pliers, and wobble it as you pull it.

The coils that came with my genuine Aerotank would not come apart, the replacement coils that I bought came apart quite easily!
Not sure what that is all about.

Mine came with aerotank come to think of it. Maybe I am not just weak then!
On a separate note what wattage should I be able to go up to on a 2 ohm coil in a davide and a protank with rayon wick? Getting a lot of nasty tastes going on......

Done a few now jmw2309 I normally keep hold of the base and wiggle the chimney (sounds kinky) to get that bit apart and for the bottom grip the lil metal bit and it slides right out of the rubber (that didn't sound right either)

dalealan that does indeed sound kinky......will just try a different one anyway as I am impatient and want to do it right now. I seem to be getting a burnt taste on 2 different tanks on VTR now so must do something!

try and thread it onto a 510 conector / adapter to give you more purchase, then have at it with pliers and some kitchen roll, cloth or whatever to unscrew the head. Once apart then take rubber grommet off and use pliers to pull the post cap off. You will need to get the head off the base anyway to re-coil.
Ruffie.
PS: was vaping PT3 with rayon and apple tart at about 7 - 8 watts. 1.9ohm (normal) coil.

Brand new ones can be very tight.
Hold the base tightly, use a small pair of pliers and pull the post hard, it will pop out, then remove the coil and wick or just wick .

I usually stay around 4 volts for a coil at 2 ohmish and never had burnt.

Problem sorted I think. Seems that even though I was using variable wattage voltage was set at 5.9v. I assumed one adjusted the other......Thanks sammy13 for your help!

Yeah, you're likely to get a burnt taste at 5.9v on a 2ohm coil Your mod will be in the mode of whatever you last set, if that makes sense? So if you set volts, then it's in voltage mode, if you set watts, its in wattage mode. If you use wattage mode, you don't need to worry about adjusting for different ohm coils as wattage mode automatically adjusts for you. If you always use the same ohm coils then it really doesn't make much of a difference which mode you use.

Can't seem to get any of it apart tbh. Will have to wait for another one to give up and I will try redoing that one Kanger do a few different types of head and the ones you have sound like the upgraded ones that don't come apart.
The one on the left can be taken apart. The on the right cant.
