It's official, I'm a techie This afternoon my spinner 2 suddenly wouldn't fire, button light came on as normal but it wouldn't send power through to the coil/tank. I did the usual tickling of the pin but it still wasn't having it..I then ran and tried it in my charger and it wouldn't charge, the button light didn't even come on. I don't have the receipt or anything so couldn't take it back and this is my main battery...Panic, panic, panic. Anyway I decided (after several minutes of subjecting the battery to verbal abuse) to try and fix it myself, the problem was obviously the center pin because it wouldn't power the coil and it wouldn't charge, yet the button still lit up when I pressed it as normal. So I grabbed a pair of pliers and tried to remove the top of the battery but abandoned that idea when I realised I was scratching the thread bits. So then I grabbed an old tank I had laying around and connected it to the battery, then using the tank as a kind of pulley/handle I slowly and gently managed to wiggle the top off of the battery and then instantly discovered what the problem was, a white wire had come lose. After a bit of fiddling around I found out the wire had come loose from the pin but I'm not a welder or anything so there's no way I could get it back on there really..I took the easy way out and just sheered off some of the wire sheeting and poked it in to the hollow center pin and reconnected the top to the battery. NOW ITS WORKING AGAIN I fixed it all by myself and even though it was a "dodgy" repair I'm still so happy that I managed to figure out the problem and fix it myself. I know other people have reported spinner 2 batteries not firing and/or charging but if the button light still comes on then your problem may be the same as mine, a simple thin white wire coming loose from the pin inside. If you have a "dead" spinner then check it and see, maybe you can bring it back to life. If the wire comes loose again I'll probably need to look into getting it welded somehow but for now its all good.

Your tenacity is admirable@amygx, but if that is the problem with mine it is going straight back to the vendor!

very very common fault the white wire coming off the centre pin and when dropped the fire button moving and getting jammed that is the two common faults there is others but I would need to write a book to state them all and well done and its called soldered not welded but its easy enough to get a soldering iron and soldering it on and well done for having a go and that is how I get the end off these I use old CE4s as it protects the threads

I couldn't leave the battery sitting in a drawer because it would have bugged me thinking about what was wrong with it so I had to pull it apart and try to fix it and I'm glad I did now. Its currently charging and I'm going to leave it for a while and hope the wire doesn't come loose again, don't want to push my luck messing with it any more lol. But if it does comes loose again I'll give soldering a try

I think you will have to solder it one day as you will jolt it and the wire will fall out but good luck with it I have a lot of these in my drawer to fix over the next few days but I enjoy it

I'd grab a cheap soldering iron off ebay. Don't use superglue as when you do want to solder the wire back on the fumes from superglue are terrible when heated. Soldering the connection will give you a problem free connection again.

Argos used to do a great little beginners electricians kit. Think was by challenge. Not the highest quality, but they worked fine for this kind of job and other small jobs at home. Had a soldering iron, multimeter, iron stand, paste, solder, a couple of insulated screwdrivers, jewellers screwdrivers, adjustable spanner, hex keys etc all in a neat little black case. Check if they still sell them or something similar.
This isn't a great kit for professionals or enthusiasts, but is a real bargain for someone wanting to do occasional repairs. Bought one years ago when I started my degree in electonics when I couldn't afford much better and it served me well for many a year. Only cost about £12 or £13 quid.
If argos dont sell anymore, then look about for a similar kit. Good value for a beginner.
