Ionian tries mixing: take two

I've finally (almost) cured my shinyitis. I have beautiful mods, great atomisers, enough batteries to last with a few spares, and comfortable drip-tips. I make coils that suit my vaping style, and can strip down and rebuild my gear effortlessly. However, I've always shied away from mixing; I bought the gear to start last year, but made a right mess on my first attempt and haven't gone back to it. 

Now I feel it's time to go for the vaping black belt, and get my mix on. I have base, PG, VG and various mixing gear from my failed attempt, and I've just ordered the following concentrates:
PA French vanilla deluxe
PA RY4
PA Sweetener (ethyl maltol) 
FA Banana
FA Strawberry
FA Caramel
FA Coconut
Capella Harvest Berry
Capella Vanilla Custard
Capella Raspberry
Capella NY Cheesecake

So, hopefully bits will come for the weekend so I can have a good session. I'm going to try a RY4, some PVC, some harvest berry, and I want to try a couple of my own creations. 

I've got a few questions, because I want to keep the experimenting to a minimum - I think I need to see good results early so I get some confidence, so your collective advice is very welcome:

PVC steeping time is around 4 weeks, correct?

Has anyone got any experience of mixing PVC with fruit flavours? I want to try a Perpetua Jizz (sorry Perpetua), PVC with banana, and a similar one with strawberry / raspberry. What % of fruit should I add?

I also want to make a vamp kiss style juice - coconut and caramel. Does anyone have a tried and tested recipe? I love Vaping Kings juice, but I love too many of his juices to keep spending out without learning to make my own!

Similarly, a MDV666 style juice - raspberry cheesecake. Any tried and tested recipes?


Another big plus is that I can control my nic a bit better. I'm currently at 12mg, but want to mix at 10mg, 50/50 and see how I go.

PVC does need 4 weeks to steep, but that is the minimum, so try to leave it longer if possible.

Regarding banana custard or any other fruit custard, most people I believe just use the custard concentrate rather than pvc.

Another way to do it if you wanted to mix using the pvc would be to mix both separately and then mix together once steeped either directly into the tank or a small sample bottle that way you would get a better idea if you like it more fruity or more custardy.


Razzy ripz sounds scrummy, raspberry custard , and you have the ingredients for that, just omit the vanillin or if you add one extra drop of sweetner.

I've used this, it's very helpful and quite good fun

No worries ionian, that's what it's all about, personalizing a recipe to suit your tastes.

I'd be thinking of using around 8% of fruit to your Custard Base - you can always add more if you'd like that to be a stronger flavour coming through.

ionian stop right there before it gets worse....I started out with a simple red astaire concentrate, I've now got over 150 flavours and multiples of some of them

You do mix your Red Astaire right ionian?

I mean even I manage that lol

Recipes kind of elude me, or rather they never work right but t juice and pink spots concentrates allow even idiots like me to get some decent results and lower the old vape budget

I can't vape red Astaire any more dreamylittledream - I overdid it and can't bloody stand it now! However, it was t-juice that I screwed up last time, a strawberri mix. First of all I was aiming for 12mg but I managed to use nic base twice instead of pure PG - so my nic content went through the roof. Got that under control, but only had enough concentrate to mix it down to 18mg at 20% flavour. Left it to steep, tasted it, it was harsh, too sweet, and just yucky. I still have it, try it from time to time, it's still minging.

So, sorry for the sob story, but yes, I managed to muck up a one shot concentrate.

Still, I'm older and wiser now so raring for another go!

Overdo Red Astaire?  Does not compute lol  Okay its probably just me but I have just come out of a slightly obsessive 6 month or so period where I only vaped RA, and I do mean only (prior to that for several months I only vaped Mrs Lords Druide and Red, but then the Missus decided she didn't like the taste of Druide and as I like to kiss her I had to give it up).

I'm back on a selection of flavours now (vapemunki and Pink Spot have shown me what I was missing) but Red is still my go to ADV - I don't think I could ever get sick of it - tastebuds are strange n'est pas?

Anyway strawberri is pretty yucky even when mixed correctly - I've tried pretty much all of the T juice concentrates and only really got on with Red and Affro Dizziac (and found Affro a bit much after a while - still have about 10mls of the 30mls I mixed back in November)

On the other hand I've lost count of how many bottles of Red I've mixed - lets just says is over half a litre of concentrate and I could mix it in my sleep!

I also find Strawberri a little 'strange' but add 5% peppermint to it and it becomes a VERY refreshing summer vape

I really liked strawberri when I tried the premix, but I think my taste buds metamorphised shortly afterwards. I found vaping king, and I've been vaping billy's juices ever since. By comparison to t-juice, they are so sweet and creamy and moreish, and I've been spoiled with the selection of dessert flavours.

But he doesn't do concentrates! Arrrrrghhh!

Q - I've gone off all menthol fruits, although I still have some RA and some cherry ice that I'm saving for when I next get a cold - at least you can taste them through the snot!

I'm quite excited to start now, and it's been at least a week since I last got vape mail so I'm postie stalking for concentrates...

If at first you don't succeed and all that ionian.

Get a couple of mixes that you enjoy under your belt and there'll be no stopping you.

had a good session this afternoon! I've mixed 50mls of PVC, and then 10 ml testers of:
RY4
harvest berry
raspberry cheesecake
coconut and caramel
strawberry
banana

I've made up most of the recipes myself - hopefully my palette is ok and and they taste alright once steeped.

I've read that FA flavours need more steeping than cap / PA - is this true?

I actually quite enjoyed it, I took lots of time and double checked everything!

Never heard of that before but i do find FA concentrates are the most authentic tasting flavors out the lot but i think the price reflects that.

All i can say is steeping is your friend
