Hi ripple27 if your wicking material was jet black as you said then you appear to have too high a volts for your juice try turning it to the lowest setting. I think vg heavy juices like to run cooler to stop burning and gunking up the coils. Have you tried dry burning your coils when refilling your tank again vg heavy juice tends to need this more often than pg heavy juices. Hope you get sorted soon

The nature vape coil is 0.28 Kanthal and the diameter is 2mm using 8 wraps....but they use res/non res wire but if using the latest kanger heads you don't need res/non res wire as the coil does not burn the inserts anymore as they are made out of silica not rubber.
If you want send me some heads and i will re-coil them for you to see how they are made/look.

The Nature Vape coils are 2mm. I have some that are still going strong after 4 months. Those that died were due to my heavy handed rewicking ( trying to force too much wick through ). I now make my own coils but they aren't as strong as those from Nature Vape and I still have to have several goes before getting a useable coil.

Another vote for trying Virtual Vape 's kanger heads. The microcoil will last so will save you cash. Just recoil once a week with the cotton supplied (you need a tiny amount so the cotton Jonco sells with the coil will last an age). And the vape they give is second to non. Save cash. Better vape. Win win!

Sorry to hijack the thread slightly but if I got some 0.28 kanthal and did 8 wraps on a 2mm mandrel it should (depending on my as yet untested coiling skills) be as robust as a nvape coil? I want to learn to do my own microcoils and was just going to order the 0.25 as per Super Shinys guide. Am I best to just stick to that? And I have some heads from Jonco to use whilst I learn.

Have a look at this, No.8 is the same as NV coil: 0.25 is all i use, good all rounder.
