Thanks for that link sleedale, seems like a good price and comes out at about £90 delivered, will order it in the next few days as we are prepping the area and when they deliver bulk they just empty it on the floor nearest to your door so we will have to have the mini garden ready for the stones to be moved straight onto the garden.

Are you digging out by hand??

Those measurements mean nothing to me, I am not a metric girl, still talk in old money lol.

When I did a bit of landscape gardening in my younger days I would hire a rotavator, then break it down and go through it with a sieve, that's not too important for plonking pebbles on, but a rotavator can save hours of back breaking work depending on the size of the plot.

Make sure to put a good quality membrane down ideally doubled up.
Also pin it down at the edges using giant u nails/staples they about 4" by 4" by 4"
Local landscape suppliers should do them and good membrane

I agree totally with this, the thin stuff they sell, weeds will be through it by next summer.

Another way as well is before you pop the membrane down saturate it in weed killer.

Today bought:

Some gravel edging to screw against the front garden fence at the bottom to stop the gravel finding it's way out of the fence: Gravel Board
Some Construction and Landscape Membrane - 2 x 6m
Some Ronseal One Coat Fence Life - Dark Oak - 5L
Some stepping stones just in case somebody does want to walk into the front garden: Walton Stepping Stone - Copper Glow
Re-Measured the front garden and it measures (length 17 feet by width 4 feet) - (looking for a depth of 7cm) and according to this calculator on this site i need about 1 bulk bag so gonna go for this ....comes out at £92.00 for next day delivery.

p.s The wife is doing the easy work of digging up the weeds and levelling out the floor

Oh it will be level, if not i will hold her upside down and use her head and bash the soil down to level it out

It will be level enough, tbh i don't give a flying fu** how to outside of the house looks, it's the inside that counts for me (apart from how clean the windows are)....it's part of my OCD...the outside world does not bother me...only the inside.
