During the first year of me vaping I kept an accurate record of all my vaping costs, including these that were yuk and went in the bin.
I also kept the same record of my savings by vaping instead of smoking.
At the end of the year I had enough savings to buy a caravan, albeit an older model. Still, it was good enough to do us for the next few years holidays.
With year two's savings, I modernised the van, got a deck built in the back garden, got the outside of the house repaired & painted, bought enough e-juice chemicals to do me for the next 6 years and still had enough put by to cover all our caravan site fees for 2014.

So here I am still enjoying the same amount of nicotine that I used to get from my 40 fags a day, yet also enjoying many things that during my smoking days, I simply could not afford.

Oh and jmw2309, one of the "vaping things" that went straight in the bin was CUSTARD!!!!!!

My spending has ceased 7/8months on. Infact im now offloading stuff I never use. I only have one mod that I want to purchase in the future and thats on hold till I hear from the manufacturer aboit personalisation.

Could have fallen into the magpie trap(shiny fetish) but I've been saved by my vamo/kraken combo. It does all I need and more. Perhaps a few more krakens to have more flavours on the go and I'm sorted. But still...that bagua 18350 mod is calling me as a replacement for the twist I use at work. Otherwise, my spending has settled down to wire/wicking material and juice supplies.

To list the failures in my collection...MVP2. Now it acts as a powerpack only, but every other tank and battery I've bought gets use.

Long story short, once you have a setup that vapes how you like it, then you are set. You can go through a week for £5 or less, about the cost of 10 stinkarettes.

I'm on full STOP for vaping purchases due to circumcisions beyond my control.... but having amassed a few attys/mods/batteries/tools (yes tools, for teh coiling) but most of all juice concentrates/base, I'm set for a financial siege while mixing enough to keep me going for a good long horizon. Get into mixing!

I have got alot better (despite being able to look at gear as a business investment).

My biggest problem is not being able to let go of old kit. I've managed to give away a few mods and tanks to new vaping friends to get them started but still have some expensive shineys that I never use but cant bring myself to put on the market.

Now that I am happy with the vamo want to add spinner II in my collection and a pipe.And think this should be more then enough to keep me going away from stinkies.Now prolly will need to start mixing,because right now not happy with any juice I have.Yes,they are vapable,but still lack of the "wow,I want to vape that all day long" factor.

You quote £7 for a pack of fags, I had a shock when out of curiosity glanced along the cig cabinet in my local shop, the purple silk cut which I used to smoke were .....wait for it....£8.65, thank goodness I don't smoke or I would deffo be in debtors prison by now, 1 pack a day = £60. 55 per week!
Thanks to this forum I can vape happily and have money in the bank.

I don't know what 20 super king Mayfair costs these days, but I was getting through 40 a day for years.

Indeed any savings I calculate are at the price they were when I went 100% vaping.
Ofcourse there is the added unseen savings that I am making because I no longer go to the shops each day to buy my fags and therefore I am not spending extra money because I never went in just for ciggies.

Ofcourse, on the downside (there's always a bloody down side!!!), the house needs redecorating to get rid of the nicotine stains, new clothes need to get bought to eliminate the stinky clothes, now that we have more money we "need" more holidays, that is from SWIMBO and I daren't ask her to explain! and and and.

Savings???

The solution is to think in terms of packets of cigarettes / 25 grams of hand rolling tobacco
So... let's play with 20 Marlboro Gold at £8.79 from Tesco or 25 grams of Amber Leaf at £8.17 from the same

Now you've travelled the full shinyitus path and living in the world of Mech's and RBA's
You've bought yourself a genuine (and fantastic) Fortune Mod for £60 - for me that was my most expensive Mod. Now, that's just shy of 7 packets of fags or just over 7 packets of Amber Leaf
Alternatively you've bought yourself a Kayfun Light Plus for around £66 - that's 7 and a half packets of fags
Now you really like the KFL+ but can't really justify a weeks smokes so you buy a clone as a second from, say, Fasttech for, let's say £18 (a particularly good clone, once you've drilled out the air hole) - a little over two packets of cigarettes...
Except now you go off and buy a Nemesis mod for £12, which is...

You get the picture of how to assuage the guilt.... Alas this cycle will continue as you buy your Kraken, Taifun, a variety of RBA's, a couple of Squapes and Aqua's all from clone sources with a scattering of other mods....

Then it kind of stops and you're really just replacing batteries and o'rings occasionally, along with Kanthal wire and wicking material....

And then you start mixing, collecting a freezer draw of Nic base and oh so many concentrates.... (I'm stuck here, because I desperately need to protect myself with a few litres of Nic Base but money.....)

And then, apart from the odd treat, you're truly into a maintenance cycle with consumables... Or you stay with VV / VW batteries and Pro-tanks > Nautilus's and go through a slightly faster and probably more expensive maintenance cycle (but there's ways of mitigating costs).

But hell - it's not all about the money anyway - think of the health recovery and such....

Now I've got so and his GF set up, I can concentrate on me again and actually there isn't anything I need! So, like others, maybe I can just concentrate on mixing and coil/wicking. Although maybe something with removeable batteries, like the VTR or smaller that lasts for ages, is easy to use, doesn't need a degree in electrickery to be safe and will take my tanks..........oh dear......I'll join you on the counselling couch.........

mind you, I find it quite annoying when my mum moans about all my stuff, I've 6 mods and four of them are completely different so yeah, I do need them all!

microstick for stealth, billet box for tank capacity, provari mini for my ohms meter + driving, sunbox for squonking, eVic for my aspire nautilis tanks and piccalo for spheroid, chi sleek for my ego tanks = all needed and used

My Oh just had a moan about my latest purchase .. A shotgun mod .. Mmm I said I've just bought you 50grms of Samson which wil last less than a week ! I I could have bought 2 of these for the same amount !!
Wait till till my next package arrives ! A 26650 snow wolf mod , , a aerotank giant and 2 megas , 10x5pack of coils ... And it's still less than he spends in month!! Got 500ml of juices made so technically I don't need anything for a while..... Want though is another matter.....
