We can haz chat room?

Mod folks... I'm a member of a (non-proboards) forum where members can set up a chat room and sit there and yak with other members who are online. Is it an option on proboards?

It used to be an option, I had one on one of my other forums but when they updated to V5 it went... nobody really noticed & haven't asked where it is so I haven't looked, perhaps Chrissie can throw some light on it

I'll pop into my other one and see if I can find where that one has gone

Found it, they've changed the name to Shoutbox, I've re-enabled & tested it on my forum, its not brilliant but it works, what do you think Chrissie can we have it on here?

Q - if you want to tag Chrissie , you need to tag @ admin - not the random, who will have no idea what you're talking about!

Think this has come up a couple of times before, and was almost unanimously rejected.

As fred says, it was rejected as many forum folk decided that the conversational element of many of the threads here would be lost and members would disappear to chat rather than nattering in 'full view' as they do at the moment.
I'm sure Chrissie will correct me if I'm wrong

as it was agreed that to much information would be lost to the general public if we did it on chat and we all agree safety items like battery safety should never be hidden away so a chat room would never be opened on here but any talk about general crap could and should be encouraged to the above link

I always use it as a chat room and I always manage to get my points across so I don't see the problem and I like it the way it is as well as long as important safety threads are not taken over or peoples classified posts then I don't see why not I think this forum has the right mix and it goes down well
