I'm not sure if I am cool with this or not. One the one hand it removes him from the damaging comments he was making, completely unfounded, about the vaping community. On the other however, it will be a shame because his comments were so far from the truth as to be quite amusing. I'm sure someone else will pop up to take his place though . . .

I'm sure someone else will pop up to take his place though . . . There will be more that lose their cool, as they see their "Money for Nothing" donations from big pharma disappear. Hopefully they will get sacked, just as this person SHOULD, the SOONER THE BETTER. He is a bully , that became evident , and also a coward for removing his comments afterwards. All this with no real evidence of what himself, the WHO , Stanton Glantz and others have said, it's time for you lot to stop lining your pockets and serving the people that are paying you. Don't do twitter myself but I hope someone on there has picked up on this and perhaps suggested that the real reason for the 'apology' and his 'break from Twitter' is that the things he said were a load of bull s***, insulting and downright lies and that they expose him as a total fraud who is obviously being paid big bucks to say what he said.

I just can't believe that this was from him?? I'm 99.9% certain it was from Professor John Ashton. He has lost it on Twitter in the past.

Looking at his published works he has no background on the subject other than a two page journal article he published in 1970 about students and smoking. I don't know if that makes him a leading expert on the matter, but either way I ain't wasting any sleep over his diatribe

Twitter is in foment over his comments - the latest trend is to tweet something as rude and insulting as possible and then tag #tweetlikejohnashton I think the ramifications will rumble on for quite some time!

I'm surprised none of the big networks have run with this goes to show how much in the pockets of big industry the media really is

Quite ironic that the chief medical officer should say that mental health should be a bigger priority just after Ashton's meltdown. Dave

Quite ironic that the chief medical officer should say that mental health should be a bigger priority just after Ashton's meltdown. Dave Being the suspicious type , this kind of comment has me thinking it's to take the heat off Professor Ashton than it is about mental health. For example , what if professor Ashton started talking about mental health patients families the same way he did about vapers ? In a lower position in ANY comapany , be it public or private , they would be out of the door quicker than you could say " Vaper" , let alone say there is an investigation ongoing.I mean, what is there to investigate , it's been retweeted and posted in so many places that it really shouldn't take longer than an hour to see what he'd done is wrong in EVERY way, shape and form.If he keeps his job , it will just show what kind of people run the NHS and where their interests really lie. Andy
