there are no words to describe this horror but also - what has happened in this boy's life to make him like that ? I see where your comming from Clivia & it certainly makes you wonder....but im willing to bet theres children growing up in other parts of the world in far worse conditions/enviroments than this boy & Im sure they wouldnt even contemplate doing something like this....Kids know the difference between right & wrong from an early age regardless of their upbringing..... Im kinda glad this boy is well over the legal age of criminal responsibility & can be prosecuted for it....trouble is our courts are just too soft these days..:-(

He'll probably get nothing more than a warning. I cannot understand why anyone would harm a defenseless animal/person. It does make you wonder why we are called 'mankind' as when you hear the news there aint much kindness around ! I hope he gets his come uppance one day for this dreadful act

I don't recall a year like this for such bad news, whether it's the global unrest everywhere, the deaths of famous people some of us grew up with (3 today alone), but this marks a new low. IF, and I stress if it was a child that did this, then it sends more than a shiver down my spine. What hope for the future? I'm so glad I'm not this kid's father. Could say more but we can't prejudge without the facts.
The only redeeming feature we can take from it is the enormous response of physical help from the locals there, risking their lives to save the animals, and the tremendous outpouring of donations from the vast majority of decent people. Just checked the JustGiving page again and it should hit £1M within the next hour or so.

I was distraught to hear this today, I heard he was 15 so he will get off with it, it also pissed me off listening to someone on sky news complaining that their charity something to do with children in Africa took 6 months to raise the money donated at that time to the dogs, so what? I regularly donate to oxfam so I'm not against charities helping those in poorer countries at all but his attitude was totally wrong

"Life...........is just a bowl of tricks!!!!!!"

"Life...........is just a bowl of tricks!!!!!!" I agree , this was an horrific event and if people want to donate why not? In 1985 liveaid asked us all to donate to Ethiopia I believe, now they are no better off?? They are all still starving and dying. These dogs need a future and money donated will give them a new home, food, toys, and medicine it gives them a new chance, and I hope they get all they need fr now and the future.

chrisjw... an age old saying... 'You can't help others if you can't help yourself'... or words to that effect. I also commit monthly to several charities around the world, but I always wonder where the money goes. Is it to buy another gold ornament on the President's mantlepiece. This appeal, well it's not really an appeal, it is a spontaneous outpouring of people's generosity and feelings, helps to counter the horror of the act.

Past the million pound line now . . . out of something so sad, something good has come - that's the way I'm trying to look at it. www.justgiving.com/ManchesterDogsHomeMENThe generousity of so many people, will help make life more comfortable for the surviving animals, that's my hope.

I donated in the hope my small contribution would help an animal who didn't deserve what they went though

jaysey... I so know where you're coming from... but an event like this brings out the true feelings of our country. No one can look at it, and whoever who did it, will never have a real life as we know it, it will be on his/her conscience for the rest of their life. The only positive that can come out of it is the response that people have given. That says so much for this broken world, we are still a people that cares!... and we need to do something about the minority that doesn't.!!!

Sometimes it is difficult to remember that there are decent people about, but only the bad stuff makes the news. But there are lots of decent people here as proved by the response to this thread, you all care and that's good and decent.
