I'm shrinking

When I joined the Army in '59 I was 5' 9". Last week I was measured in a health centre and I was 5' 7.5".

This could be a possible drawback to immortality.

Extrapolating....

I could eventually be drowned by a rain shower.

Smothered by a speck of dust.

Buried by a flake of snow.

Blown away by a heavy breather.

Gobbled up by an insect.

Insurance premiums would soar.

No-one would be able to afford to live forever.

No wonder Freddy sang this...

Anyone else shrinking?

I have a medical every year and the records are kept and when I first qualified I was 6 foot 3 inch
now I am 5 foot 11 inch so I have lost a amazing 4 inches the doc at the medical says it is normal as you get older your disks in your spine get compressed so you lose height especially if you lift heavy weights at work I some times lift items onto my work bench that weigh 200 kilos that's 32 stone in old money apart from the height it doesn't seam to have done me any damage the only problem with getting older is I now need to use both hands for lifting instead of one

It is normal for people to lose an inch in height between 20 and 50 and another inch between 50 and 70. Heavy work and ejecting out of aircraft will make you lose more and faster.

Chins up Folks! at least your nearer the ground now, so it's easier to tie your shoes up, I'm at the stage now where if I bend down to tie my shoes, I look for something else to do while I'm down there to save wasting a journey,,,,

My mum always says she was 5'6 and now she's 5'2 !! My dad's royal marine papers say he was 5'11 but he only came up to my nose before he passed 20 years ago and I'm 5'10 ! So guess it happens to us all !! ... Mm best measure my self I may be only 5 foot !!!!
