Could you get a second hand nexus? The new one is out now so perhaps the older version is been sold off.
Whilst the cheaper ones may work, they also may not, and there is also the question of how long for.
The one I gave away on a comp cost about £100, it was fantastic whilst it worked, then it went haywire, the comp winner charliehorse been technical fixed it so all was good. The cheaper ones often have a problem with flash from what I can gather as well. The nexus is better than any pc or laptop, much quicker ,and if it was 17inch I would have one as a main unit they are so good

I have a allwinner one and it is stuck on the android screen it cant be recognised on the pc so it is going to be hard to update it I have tried the power button and the volume switch to reset it it doesn't work and the pin hole reset doesn't reset it as well I might have to strip it to see if it has a fault but I think it is all software that is the problem

Thanks sammy13@ronaldo@windows. I was cautious when I saw the linked fleabay ones, just seemed to good spec to be sold at that price. Ill keep a look out for a used nexus or one of the other good brands.

It's still going strong sammy13 - or at least I'm assured it is by my youngest nephew who liberated it from me about a fortnight after I fixed it

I've just got a second hand medion lifetab 7 inch (they also do 10 inch) and I know its reduced to £59 new, it's android jellybean 4 point something and works fine for browsing and although its only an 8gb hard-drive I loaded trillions of games on, with a cheap adapter you can add a mouse or keyboard and its got an extention slot for memory, so for the money its adequate and second hand I paid £25
Anyways, compare the specs and have a look, medion is sold by Aldi but its not crap! I've had pcs and netbooks from them in the past
