So, been waiting for M-vapes to get new stock in of their Kayfun Lite Plus v2 and now they have stock I took the plunge and bought one Been looking at a couple of coiling vids to get me going but any tips from you Kayfun lovers/experts would be much appreciated. I use mainly Protanks and Aerotanks (no mech mods (yet), just VV/VW devices) and recoil my heads at roughly 2ohm so can coil fine, but I only have .25mm Kanthal at the moment, any suggestions on changing to a different gauge? Was thinking maybe to get some .28mm. Also washing and cleaning. I normally just wash my tanks in warm soapy water and stick in a denture tablet solution overnight, can I do this for a Kayfun? Also I am thinking of buying an ultrasonic cleaner in the future when I can find one at a decent price. I also use (and have loads of) organic cotton wool for rewicking my heads, any suggestions on wicking would also be much appreciated. Bought it mainly to sit on my new Focal Hana clone so can't wait for when it comes

I use 0.25 Kanthal and cotton wool or Rayon. Tend to go more diagonal than 90 degrees.
I sonic cleaned it after unpacking, then since then, just rinse in warm water. Definitely no denture tabs or further sonics for me.
Gosh.. must be months and months....

Likewise I use 0.25 kanthal on 2mm former in kayfuns plus cotton. Can be a bit of a learning curve to get the cotton wick right but once you do it's a doodle Rinse all bits under a tap with warm water if changing juice flavours.

If you are happy with your coiling abilities I wouldn't change anything as yet, try your usual build and see if it's different in the kayfun and to your liking, just tweak the wattage a bit first before making changes. Also don't read up too much on them unless you hit a snag. There are so many threads and vids about kayfun build problems but my motto is keep it simple and utilise what you already know, your coils are fine as you said. By all means experiment, I've just tried a twisted coil in mine but to be honest it's not massively different in my opinion. My main worry whilst mine was on the not so slow boat was the filling techniques people mention, even down to using a chopstick in one vid I watched. I just filled mine the recommended way through the fill hole and it works perfectly fine.

As mentioned , use the kanthal and wick you are used to using, in my humble opinion the nicest YouTube tutorial I've used is this one.
Kayfuns / Russians are easy to build , your first attempt or toe might be a bit scruffy but trust me after a week or two you'll be building and re wicking within 5-10 mins .

Ps no need to blow torch, I never have , never will. I use my mod to hear coils then use tweezers to compress.

After watching some other videos and the advice i've taken on board I wasn't planning to use the blowtorch to be honest, i've noticed it's not needed with Kayfuns etc and I find it a bit of a faff but understand it should be done on the microcoiled kanger heads.

Just do a build that you are happy with. The one tip I would give is don't go to heavy with the wire 28 or 30 AWG will be fine.

if you can coil a kanger head you will be able to coil a kayfun with ease

My first kayfun build was with 0.25 and it was simply no comparison to anything else I'd tried! Pure bliss What you may find as you grow to be comfortable with it is that you'll be tinkering with your coil resistances a fair bit. I coil mine at anywhere between 0.7-3.1ohms depending on the juice.. What I will say though is if you do go straight into microcoils, my main points would be to run the coil diagonally across the deck, and don't choke the channels.. You don't need masses of wick for it to work properly, too much cotton will prevent the juice from flowing properly and ruin the experience with a dry hit.
Only other thing to be wary of is that the filling process either makes or breaks you.. Take your time and don't stress out if it leaks.. They are a steep learning curve to begin with but you'll have it down in no time! I use this ultrasonic cleaner and it's quite simply brilliant. Your method will work fine in the meantime though. Just strip the kayfun right down (including the centre post) and go from there.

Kayfuns are much easier to build than kanger heads. I used the method in the video @purple1234 posted for my 1st few builds, and it worked great. Now I use twisted .28 and use the diagonal method where the wick comes down at one end of the deck and runs across to the other side. That's the good thing with these, you can try out lots of builds and mostly they all work great.
