If you look at this pic, I live on the left-hand point where the loch narrows.
The building you can see further up the loch on the right-hand side is Faslane and just over the hills to the left is Coulport and both of these bases house the UK Nuclear Submarine Fleet.
If there is an accident there or they are targeted in a future conflict, my front garden will get a tad mucked about.
Indeed so will every other garden, house, business and person within an area that stretches from Inverness to Carlisle!
One of the main aims of the Yes Campaign in yesterday's Referendum was to get rid of this abomination from Scotland.
If it was moved to say the Thames, then the blast area would only be Birmingham to Calais and Bristol to Lowestoft. Or to put it another way, Westminster want these weapons, just as long as they are not on their doorstep.

lobeydosser just like they want the income from Scotland, and the rest of us, to spend mainly on the SE Let's suggest to Cameron and maybe Boris, now he can't have his island airport, that these things would be better strategically placed to defend them down there? If they were going to put an airport on an island there'd be plenty room for that lot! Feel of you, and the rest of us....it might have been a wake up call, instead things will be business as usual. Beautiful place you live in, I hope it remains that way for a long time to come

I miss the Highlands, I'll have to make another trip soon
We were supposed to be away on Sunday for our forth caravan trip, but we are both down with a bug and will have to postpone it until that has cleared up. We have had 3 Scottish trips this year so far and are hoping for another 2 before the end of the season.
So come on up Q, there's plenty of room!!!!!

Och Q. For some of us lucky few, the word WORK is just a 4-letter swear word.

Hi igual, It is many decades since I tasted Whisky so I cannot tell you about local distilleries. All the salmon, even those out on the estuary are "supposed to be owned" by the River Leven Fishing Club and if we catch any off our shores and get caught by the Bailiffs, then both the catch and our cars are confiscated. But the shore fishing is good for Mackerel etc. and deer are regularly seen wandering through the village, usually at night.
