16 x green Sony US18650GR + 2 X Red ? MHLM4C6 (light blue +ve insulator & 6 cut out out +ve terminal) from the lap tops and I have 4 Pana 3400 mAh + 2 Samsung 2800 mAh ICRs.  I will probably use one of these for the supply as the batteries are wired separately and use the boards as chargers, most just have them parallel so you have to take more care balancing them.  I will have to see what the lowest input the boards take for charging or would need a 5 V boost.  With the 10 VTC4s & 10 Pana CGRs I should be able to vape & keep the phone charged for at least a week without the need for a mains socket.

With that 4 bay one (I have $25 of FT rebate points & I couldn't make one as neat for the price), a lipo-safe bag and a couple of charging boards I could just cycle the laptop batteries and still use 90 % of their power. There are loads of really cheap Powerbanks that take 18650s in parallel but you would have to keep sets of balanced batteries or just never swap them.

Those boards could also be handy for measuring capacity (I have 2 lots of 8 1 ? 10 W resistors in series for balancing power amp) and could just time them drain with those as the load.

These two seem the best to me as the batteries don't need to be balanced (all at the same voltage when fitted)
4 X 18650 seniorphil has one and likes it
2 X 18050

There are quite a few others for less, but they are all parallel battery config whick is OK if you are never going to swap the batteries about and just charge them in the power bank.

To get this a little more about batteries , I have a few questions.

1 - ronaldo what's the matter with the Efest 2500mah batteries, or is it all Efest's ??
2 - In the future I will ( probably ) get a mech of some sort , I currently have a VTR , so I want the best I can get , which ones ?
3 - Looked at Torchy's Ebay site and looked at the 18650's are they don't say if they are VTC4's or VTC5's , so what are they ?
4 - What's the difference between the VTC4's and the VTC5's ?


I think that's all for now, I'll probably remember something 10 minutes after I have posted and gone out , but that's sod's law

Torchy's 30 A will be VTC4 as 2100 mAh

VTC4: 2100 mAh
VTC5: 2600 mAh very slightly higher internal resistance than the VTC3
Both are 30 A continuous discharge current & 60 A max or pulse discharge current

(Efest purple 2500 mAh 35 A is 20 A continuous discharge current & 35 A max or pulse discharge current, re-wrapped LG 18650HE2)
(Efest purple 2100 mAh 30 A is a re-wrapped VTC4)

I've just bought a pair of the LG HE2s. I'm happier because they say what they are. No relabled (and possibly) over-priced stuff in my kit. Remember this - the most potentially dangerous pieces of kit we possess are the batteries we're using. Better to be safe eh?

We know that some of the 2100 are VTC4, almost certainly all, but cannot know 100% without unwrapping them.  I think it was the other purples where Efest use the pulse rating instead of the continuous rating that ppl like me object to mainly.  There was a poor batch of the 35 A reported.   Efest don't make batteries and they can vary between batches a lot more than the other brands, I have 9 red 350s from 3 batches & each batch is quite different.  IIRC ronaldo said some of the purples he tested didn't have enough chemical in them and some other deficiencies, I can't remember which one this was.  For me with all these variables and a terrible charger I just steer clear of Efest stuff.
