I've just bought a pair of the LG HE2s. I'm happier because they say what they are. No relabled (and possibly) over-priced stuff in my kit. Remember this - the most potentially dangerous pieces of kit we possess are the batteries we're using. Better to be safe eh? Aren't the HE2 LG not Sony?

This thread has now completely lost me.....might as well be speaking Swahili However, I did buy two efest purple 2100 18650 batteries from myepack, for my VTR and can confirm that they are......pretty pathetic! I can use nearly both of them in a day.....and I don't run the VTR at full volume either. So I ordered some from ecolux that Ronaldo said should be ok, they can't be much worse. Maybe we could do with a stuck thread on the best and longest lasting batteries for whatever? Or maybe there already is one and I've missed it? I've seen the thread about battery safety and names ending in fire......

I've seen the thread about battery safety and names ending in fire...... It's always a compromise between capacity - power - safety, the VTCs are optimised for power, safty then capacity, the Panasonics ronaldo advised are optimised for capacity, safety then power. They are both top rate batteries it's a bit like the difference between a sports car and an estate car. If people are sure they never need the power then go for the capacity, but you should not use them in a high power device.

Torchy's my sole source for batteries, because he has safety as his highest priority and comes from a background of a user of them, for cycling light purposes. I got my first batch of Sony VTC5s from him and when they went out of order (seems that Sony has stopped distributing them) the next stop for me was Torchy branded VTC5 equivalents. Ok so they are a branded OEM battery from Panasonic or other source, but one thing about Torchy, he won't sell you a dud (check his webpages on 'how to spot a fake battery') or knowingly pass on something dangerous. Trust is the most important thing with batteries... and anything with Fire in the name (as Dave Dorm said) isn't to be trusted.

It is not clear that Sony have stopped making VTCs there are conflicting reports that may have lead to panic buying, but if you watch this video (1:05) since their Fukushima plant went down and it is taking time to get back to normal, but they are and will be continuing making them.
