Nice to get a new PC Pepperty

Lenovo are great i.m.o.

I just ran a check to see when mine was first used. 18th August 2012.

Not missed a beat, not a single glitch or lock-up or BSOD. Nothing.

certainly is wonderful! bar the fact I cant type properly on it yet?....its keys are raised like scrabble letters and I keep catching the edges We bought our daughter a lenovo for her 18th and its been very reliable (so far)


Such an improvement on my original set-up, gawd it was slow too, I didn't dare attempt multitasking on the dell netbook.

Architecturally, Windows 8.1 is pretty good (more efficient and secure than Windows 7 and a huge improvement on the half baked Windows Vista). However, the whole tile thing is abysmal and best bypassed by any means. Windows 9 looks like it's giving users a little bit of the sense of functionality back, although I think that may prove to be a facade.

I think windows 9 has been skipped and Microsoft are actually seeding a preview of what they are calling windows 10.
I have it loaded on my computer and and am loving it. Back to the old style start menu with panels that fly out for quick starting programmes (hard to explain)
Runs quick, loads all the programmes I use, impressed so far.

Did I really write "Windows 9" - oh dear. Or was it after then that Windows 10 was announced...
The panels thing looks interesting (just looked up a clip on youtube). Not sure it adds value but doesn't look like the detractor formally called Metro.
