I'm a genny vaper much less faff once mastered - which is much easier then some people say. I make the wick quite loose compared to what most vapers say they do. When it gets gunked, cleaning is - pull the wick out, wipe it on a tissue, dry burn the coil and brush the ashy stuff off with an inter dent tooth brush, replace the wick. Less than 2 minutes. I don't vape custard but most people say as Geordie SS is not as good with custard. I find it fine with chocolate fudge cake. I've found thicker Kanthal and a nearly touching coil is easiest to avoid hot spots. I use .32mm in my mini gennys and .4mm in my standard DID. I have a strong flavoured RY4 which works best in the standard DID, everything else tastes better in small gennys. No need to pay big bucks, the AGT £20 and AGA S £10 from Vapegear are fine. The design of a genny is so simple I can't imagine how the more expensive gennys can be better. A few things to bear in mind with a genny: A new wick takes 15 to 30 ml of juice through it to settle in Wicks last forever - the RY4 is my main all day vape, probably use it for 40% of my vaping. I bought the standard DID when they were on sale in January, it's still on its first wick. Gennys aren't fog machines - ideal if you vape a lot and don't want to get through gallons of juice. So they don't produce any more/better vapour than a clearo?

they can produce a lot more of both depending on how you set them up big clouds are normally made using sub ohm coils and modified air holes flavor is just by the type of coil the atty is norm a lot shorter than most clearo,s and defo easy er to work with but with a dripper you do need to carry a bottle with you
with my genny (they are not rda,s but rta,s)ive used ss mesh wicks in the tank and cotton ton the top deck(almost an auto dripper)and its lush kayfun light is also worth a look for a rta as is the rose both of which there are clones available for not much dollar but if its your 1st go with rebuildables you cant go wrong with a dripper tbh

Or straight down the drip tip... Hence "DRIP tip" If you have enough cotton in it then personally I can take 7/8 vapes before needing to re-drip This sounds like alot of effort but I like the look of the plumes of vapour they produce! No more effort than constantly cleaning and changing wicks out

It may not be your atomiser that's to blame , Whatever setup you use to vaporise your juice will need rewicked at some stage . If your juice is too sweet or you're vaping at high power then your coil and wick will end up with a caramelised coating that needs removed , just think of it as part of the ritual of vaping or try lowering your power output a little, dessert juices are better at lower watts IMO,

crin766 What tanks & heads are you using? I've gone over to just using Nautilus Minis. I use the BVC coils until they are no good. Then I take the guts out of them, drill out 2 of the holes and put a microcoil in. I wick it with cotton tape. I use one tank for my home made GVC. I change the wick every 2nd refill which is probably about 4ml. I don't need to wash them as it's the same flavour so it's just a dry burn before putting a new wick in. About 5mins to rewick & refill. If I can't be bothered to rewick I just put a head in that I've already recoiled & wicked. Then I just have a dry burn, wash & rewick the accumulated heads once a week. Tried a rebuildable tank but only got one non leaking wicking out of many so gave it away. Spent the equivalent of many months of recoiling & rewicking the naughty heads and still failed. You are right about the sweet ones. Menthols & fruits the wick lasts for several refills.

I started with mini nova but thats useless for sweet vapes so got the protank 2 which is better but not great.

Do you re-coil your kanger heads? If you want to stick with the protank I'd suggest making up a microcoil with rayon as your wick. Microcoils last a long time and I've found rayon doesn't gunk up half as quick as cotton. When using cotton I'd have to re-wick at least every day but I'm now only doing a change ever 3-4 days in my kayfun.

There are drippers with big wells. The Magma and Origen can take a ml of juice.

I do but with silica rather than cotton I'd certainly try the microcoil/rayon combination before venturing into RDA's and RBA's!

Lol - just picked up a kraken clone on ebay after watching a review. The guy set it up in about three minutes so looks simple enough. .. famous last words? We'll see!

But once you nail it that's pretty much it yiu can forget about it for ages. The coil and wick will last almost in Definately. The stainless produces a much cleaner crisper flavour too. Obviously this all depends on set up etc. Saying all this I use jap cotton almost exclusively at the moment. And a dripper (RDA) with a reduced chamber will get damm close to flavour of even the best genies out there with alot less hassle too Just my 2 p's worth

Don't buy a Genesis if you like Custard vapes crin766, they strip the flavour right out. Perhaps look for a custard that isn't so heavily sweetened as GVC, so you won't have to rewick quite so often . . . I generally get 5 days on a Protank/Evod head using CLC. Which I can live with.
