You'll be fine using it winnietyson . . . it's most likely a malic/citric acid derived additive, which adds a sharp/sour note to flavours.

Works well with fruity flavours, like Koolada use sparingly until you find a level that suits your tastes - a couple of drops in 10ml maybe to begin with.
