Fascinating and awesome vid of the construction/assembly of "the world's tiniest V12 engine". I was hoping to see it doing something useful, but it's a beautiful sight nonetheless. I thought our modders might be inspired by it www.wimp.com/tiniestengine/

You mean like sucking on 12 carto's at once?
That would be some mod.
Nice engine though, must have took him ages to turn and grind the parts.

What a beautiful work of art, the closest I ever came to that was an airfix V8 engine kit when I was young

You're welcome, all Was thinking of posting it in the modders' forum because some of them might not bother with our light-hearted Lounge

That is amazing and I must show it to someone I know. But I don't understand how it's running, no electrics and no fuel I can see, or cooling connected. Oh ok, I've found out it's powered by compressed air. This I think is more impressive tbh

He put a fuel tank on there and connected it to the injector assembley, Probably had a fan blowing on it to cool it. Scratch that, I just watched it again, the fuel is coming up from underneath in that plastic pipe and the cooling is done from that tank that he fitted to the back of the engine

Boys an their toys only because you don't know what an engine is my ex once asked while we were watching motorcycle racing what the difference between a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke was... i replied 'well you know how a combustion engine works?' she said 'sure, you press the pedal thingie and it goes' i shudda stopped there, it would have saved me to hours of banging my head against the wall !!!

How very dare you Thing is Gordy, us girls have so many things going on in our lives that we work on a "NEED TO KNOW" basis with things like engines etc and if we put our minds to it, finding out all about boy things then you lot would have nothing to do would you.

Scratch that, I just watched it again, the fuel is coming up from underneath in that plastic pipe and the cooling is done from that tank that he fitted to the back of the engine I would say it is NOT an engine as it is running on compressed air, there are no electrics to provide a spark. The link that Womble gives shows a real engine with fuel and electrics. You can hear this is a real engine unlike the one in the OP.

An Engine is defined as a machine that converts energy into mechanical force or motion and as such can encompass numerous designs including steam engines
Des i think you may be thinking of an internal combustion engine as that is designed to convert the chemical energy (from fuel) into mechanical movement. you dont nessisarily need a spark plug either... in some engines the air is compressed first and then fuel injected which causes heat through friction and ignites the fuel air mix. nitro engines are another example where the use of glow plugs increase the heat required for ignition.
