Mrsmac so pleased you not giving in just yet. Your posts on rebuidables inspired me to get my first kayfun which I coiled and wicked for the first time last night. Can't put the thing down it is so wonderful. I'm not ready yet to sell my evods and aerotanks yet as I know i will encounter issues. But wow, it is so worth it.

Mrsmac I'm hooked on kayfuns wicked with japanese cotton at the moment. A little tip that i picked up from prr that's working quite well for me is to peel off the thinnest layer of the cotton that you can, cut a strip of it and roll it up like a rollie... eliminates the square edges that you mentioned before. Might be worth a try next time

Firstly Mrsmac the Kayfun you have is streets ahead of the Nautilus, don't used bleached cotton use organic if you can get your hands on some. I know you have re-wicked every which way but the easiest way IMHO is thread your cotton through the coil making sure it is not to tight. Lift both the ends up and put the chimney on without the lid. Gently push the cotton down into the wells. Give it a good bit of a prime with your juice, pop on the lid of the chimney, re-assemble and fill. If you find it difficult to get hold of decent cotton I am waiting for some coming from Japan when it arrives I can send you a couple of pads to try. It will be about 3 weeks for it to get here I think.

Thank you sonicflowjoe, I shall try that method as well, I was always concerned about compacting the cotton too much but I will try a small strip. macmagoo the cotton I am using is marketed as japenese cotton from vape mesh company, it is bright white so I know it must have been treated at some stage. I read many vapers seem to get along with it. The method you mentioned is the one I was using for a couple months and was generally ok once I got the density correct with regular cotton. With the japenese stuff doing the same method, once you cut it above the chimney it gives s blunt edge to the cotton and is not as fluffy as with normal cotton so I've been trying the other methods of placing the cotton on the deck. Thank you for your kind offer but anther kind member has offered me a different cotton to try stuish, thank you, I shall bookmark if I don't get on with the sample I have coming in, I shall try that one.

@mrsmac , macmagoo 's method is a very good method. The only thing I'd add is when you have placed the chimney over your vertical wicks is trim them perhsps a mm or 2 above the height of the chimney, then as macmagoo said gently pop the wicks down with say a jewellers screwdriver. Perfect wicking every time for me Jay.
