As the title says I am considering giving up on rebuilding. As with all things diy, I just cannot seem to correct my user error. Using the good ole kayfun which is pitched as the most forgiving rebuildable with japenese cotton (the bleached one) I get one week with excellent flavour and vapour, then come cleaning and rewicking time which is where the trouble starts. From then on its dry hits, cotton taste or no flavour at all. I've tried more cotton, less cotton, on the deck, above the deck, pasted to the deck and away from the deck, shoved down the chimney, s shapes etc and it's doing my head in! I just want the same flavour I had last week! this happeneds every other time I rewick. So far since yesterday I have taken down the build about 4 times, coil is the same and the only variables are the wick and the darn airflow screw (going to get plumbers tape today). Is it time to a) call it a day b) try something else c) try the manufacturers version

I am.having the same issue with my squape. Re wicking ends with dirty cotton taste however much I use. Even when taste goes away if I leave it along for a while then vape it again the taste returns. I have lost count of the number of rebuilds I have done on it today.
All my other tanks seem to have taken up gurgling and leaking at the same time whether I use a rebuilt coil or even a new manufacturers one.
All my latest mixes seem rank too!

Kanger Megatank....never had a dry hit, holds a fair amount of juice, vapes well, doddle to re-coil/wick.
OK maybe not on par with the Kayfuns but vaping is also about being stress free and enjoying it.

Don't give up. Sometimes leaving something and coming back to it works wonders. Get on YouTube and watch as many videos as you can all the way from basic to advanced and keep just keep trying It's trial and error, I still have problems with a kayfun, even after 2 years of rebuilding. Nothing more satisfying than getting a build right, vaping your own juice as well. It might take a little while but think of the money you will save on buying pre-made coils.

If i'm honest, i have been thinking of getting a nautilus with the vertical coils as they have had decent reviews and just say sod rebuilding all together, plug and play. Isnt it good that we have the option to do that. Super-Shiny I sold my megas but still have the aero's, I may just switch to a different juice and different tank for a few days to compose myself lol Marcus, yes i think i shall spend the afternoon with a cuppa a syringe, screwdriver and youtube. I am realising that i definately need another juice so that if the kayfun with my adv goes belly up, I can at least have something to vape on whilst i try to fix it or throw it at the wall lol

I have wondered numerous times about this as it is not an original its a hcigar kfl v2 but as i have nothing original to compare it to i dont know how wide or deep they should be and given that the price of the hcigar is slightly higher than other ones, if i mess it up, I'm buggered!

I'm using my 1st dripper (trident short center post now!) and a small 2.6ohm microcoil 28g and a teeny bit of cotton. It is the ONLY thing that seems to work "OK'ISH" All tanks leaking, all other dripper coils broken. Protank dry hits, nice coil and wick, but will not feed juice. (and it wont fire on the mech) I have about 30ml of juice in total, threw some away yesterday (an orange custard cock up ) Everything seems to have fallen to bits all of a sudden. Christ, Gail called the 24h garage the other night at midnight as i was swearing trying to fit coil. She said I may need to just go and get an ego kit from the garage as they are open and it will at least work lol. Happy Dayz

You know how people say "less is more" when it comes to cotton... It's not necessarily helpful. If you have too thin a wick, the cotton won't touch the side (continuous) of the coil. This leaves a horrible taste (sometimes metallic). Then you have the scenario where the cotton is too dense in the well and it won't wick properly (dry hit time).
When folks stay "less is more" what they really mean is less density is more... BUT if you have much too little the coil ends up with hot areas where the wick isn't touching.... Aghhh!!!!
Something akin to this is happening to you, I fear.
Air flow screw... funny you say that... after a perfect seven months with my genuine KFL+, over the last month the bloody things been weeping....
