I'm going to attempt to recoil a mini protank 3 head today but bit confused (easily done) about ohms. I want 1.6 ohms final reading, is this done using just two 1.6 coils or is there a complicated formula I have to use to arrive there.
Your help be appreciated before I waste a load of wire.

It would be much easier to use a 1.6ohm single microcoil with cotton. Easier to build and gives a great vape. There is a calculator here somewhere to help with number of wraps you need etc and some video tutorials

Thanks folks, like a challenge, so i'll attempt it, if not back to single coils. Let you know if it works.

FYI mart166 , I seen a guy do a single oval shaped coil in one of the dual coil heads, if you search on YouTube you may find it, I'll have a look later see if I can find a link for you

Ok rainey afternoon so I had a go
Only got two dead heads at moment one genuine Kanger one FT lookalike.
Coiling dead easy (remember I take apart watches and clocks for hobby so never found coils difficult), coiled as per doing evods with one extra turn on each for the ohms, done this on 2 cocktail sticks shaved down to fit grooves in head. Placed one above other then twisted legs together (in two's not all four before some smartar*e points it out). Bit of a fiddle getting legs through head, put in bung and screw thingy then removed sticks, whacked it on the meter 1.7 ohms, that'll do. Rewicked with cotton, bit trickier on the genuine as you have to trim it close and tuck in excess (lookalike does not have the metal sheild which caused my other problem, removing it, ended up with the base of a protank clone for gripping and a pair of small pliers). All seemed well so filled up a tank, unfortunatly both leaked, so back to drawing board. Next week i'm going to try it with FT pre made coils, an extra wick on the lookalike and a bit more tucked in on the genuine. It's all trial and error until I get bored and put another order with FT lol.

I use the normal kanger single coil (BCC) heads in my Mini Protank 3 mart166 as I recoil them myself. You just have to put/add an extra chimney grommet to the top of the first chimney grommet (2 grommets in total) for a perfect fit to the tank

As at the above, I find my microcoils and cotton are significantly better than the stock dual coils, again use an ordinary protank head with 2 chimney caps, really works well.

I've used the original head, recoiled with a single coil and wick and put an extra bit of cotton wool on top as a 'flavour wick' or whatever, using the original grommet. No leaks so far and I've changed the coil a few times. The only difficulty is not pulling the coil down to the very bottom of the head or I can't get the cotton wool in! If any of this makes sense. Used the same technique on the aerotank as well.

Used the same technique on the aerotank as well. Normally build mine by leaving the smooth bit of a 1.5 mm drill bit inserted through the coil (premade fasttech ones) which fits between the grooves in the head, put the grommet and bottom metal bit in then remove the drill bit. Seems to keep everything lined up nicely for the cotton to get threaded through.

Just as an update, had half hour to spare after wicking some evods, so had another go at a genuine kanger, this time plenty of cotton, result, no air flow and burnt taste, sits back and scratches head once again.
I think i'll crack the FT imitations ok, but the geniune with the sleeve on it proving to be bit problomatic, anyway next FT order will have some of their lookalikes and next genuine going to try without the sleeve and using a silicon top grommet off a lookalike or an evod.
Keeps me off the streets for a while lol.
