Having read the basic guide to mixing by Ash, it is my intention to begin mixing my own. As in my brewing recipes I will be using a pocket calculator rather than a prog. My question is, and it's probably been asked many times, hence my despair at 71 pages, where should I get my basic ingredients. I'm looking for quality rather than cheapness, having heard there are some less than desirable products on the market. Any and all advice will be gratefully received.

I buy my VG from Boots The Chemist, its called value health Glycerin B. P. (glycerol) and is £1.99 for 200ml I also got my measuring cups and glass bottles and childproof lids from there, just ask the chemist some of us say 'for aromatherapy' PG I bought from eBay - just buy the pharmaceutical grade. I pad £5 for half a litre ( but they have smaller bottles!) All your mixing gear can be picked up from eBay like measuring cups/syringes/blunt needles - but try to check its a UK item as its a longer wait from China The Alchemists cupboard has a starter syringe pack for £3.18 which will do to start you off? you may have to juggle about to keep postage costs down so do some site comparing! As for Nicotine base, I've ordered from a couple of places on line, Vapers Emporium and Everything Liquid (site down at present) The Alchemists Cupboard

Firstly . . . . please, please use a calculator jevans - you'll be doomed before you start if you don't. I can't stress how important it is in order to get the best possible results from any DIY eliquid. Why make it more complicated than needs be? They are very simple to follow and take all the hard work out of the calculations. Here is our forum one: allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/page/calculatorAnd one that many of us also use: ejuice.breaktru.com/For supplies, I'd suggest having a look at both of these Vendors, although relatively new to the forum, many of us have had exemplary service and been very happy with their products. Shipping is included on UK Flavours products: www.ukflavours.com/27-diluting-nicotine-liquidsI would post a link to Everythingliquid, but their site is currently down. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused, our site is currently getting a bit of a "facelift" and commerce side of things will be out of action until around midweek. If anybody has any questions or concerns, please do call in or send an email for an immediate response. Kind regards, Ollie For one shot/standalone concentrates then I'd suggest having a look here: www.t-juice.com/product-category/concentrates/www.chefsvapour.co.uk/-Pink_Spot_Concentrates/cat1901059_2351724.aspx

+1 for definitely using a calculator.
If you use an android phone, I use "eliquid recipe manager" It works out everything for you and you can save all your recipes so they are in your own library. Can also add in flavours by Brand and it will store them so you have a kinda virtual cupboard with what you have.
As for supplies, I'm still working out my shopping list but chefsvapour.co.uk and justvape247.com seem to be great for flavouring.
naturallythinking.com is great for bottles, of all sizes. They do 100ml amber glass bottles for around £0.46p and have a range of lids including dripper lids.
Goforsmoke.com and everythingliquid seem to be the cheapest place for nicotine, around £35 for 500ml of 72mg
And for syringes and anything to mix in, eBay is great. They have a set of 5 glass beakers for around £8 delivered. They also do mix'n'match with different sizes, 50ml,100ml,250ml,500ml etc.

Wow! Am I pleased I asked the question! Many thanks for all your replies. I will certainly try the calculators, but if they are anything like the brewing ones I will have trouble driving them. They tend to use terminology that is alien to an old goat like me!

They are really simple. Terminology like VG, PG, Nicotine Strength /ml, if your flavouring is in PG or VG etc. Its really quite straight forward, you tell it how much you want to make, strength, tell it all your ingredients and it does the rest for you

Now that seems pretty straight forward if you know what your bases are, I'll give it a go!

99.9% of flavourings will be on PG If you look around the net all the recipes will give you the % of each flavour in it. If you are using just a single flavour then try starting at any 15% and going up from their. Most people seem to think 20% is around the sweet spot but everyone is different and every brand is different. If you are interested in finding out, a quick Google search will bring you up lists of flavourings and the best % to use them at.

I have De Luxe flavouring from LT Ecigs, it makes no mention of its base! Chances are it's PG but even if it's not its no big deal. Mixing up a 10/20ml bottle if you put PG and it's actually VG all it will do is put your final pg/vg ratio off by a couple %. If you were aiming for a 70/30, if you got that big wrong it would be more 65/35 or something like that.. Like I say it's no biggy

I have De Luxe flavouring from LT Ecigs, it makes no mention of its base! De Luxe base is pg, I'd assume all base is pg. It's damn hard to get vg to take flavours.
