Having stuck pretty much to fruit juices up to now I had a go at custard and found I quite enjoyed it. Scanning the boards I read that custards seem to cause a lot of bother with coils but most threads then seem to go on to people recommending various custards and mixes etc so was wondering if there was a definitive coil/tank more suitable to use, bearing in mind that I am a relative newbie and have not attempted coiling etc. cheers

I've only ever vaped custard once for about 5days and it gunked me coil up no end. Never went back to it again, but I guess any premade coil will have the same issue? Something that you can replace the wicking would be ideal, I don't use premade coils/heads myself but I've seen certain ones with a microcoil and cotton In it ready made.. This would be ideal as could swap the cotton and a quick dry burn and you're good go go

I use Nautilus Minis but recoil the heads with a microcoil and cotton tape wick. I'm on a real custard kick at the moment with 3 of the 5 tanks I use being custards. The juices are 35/65 PG/VG. I rewick after a tankful and dry burn the coil before rewicking. So for me it's every 2.5 ml. But it's worth it

Hey bonnieboy, I mostly custard in kayfuns but also have used it in a protank and aerotank with a unicoil (virtual vapes and my own microcoils). I normally take a look at the cotton about once a week or slightly less depending on the use on the device. After a week solid on one device its probably time for a cotton swap and dry burn. You will know when you look at it because the coil will have build up on it and the cotton will have gone very dark and gunky. The taste will start to drop off when the coil isn't good anymore so you won't have to guess but I normally try and get at it before it goes bad when I get some free time. Hope that helps!

Another way to tell is that the coil stops crackling when it's gunked up. As the others have said, when that happens, take the wick out, dry burn the coil and the rewick. Generally for me, need to rewick about every 3 refills in a KFL

I guess I change my coils every 10mls they've had through them bonnieboy . . . with most dessert flavours. It's the amount of sweetener that some Custards contain, both in the flavouring and any extra added in a recipe that cause the gunking - staying with 1% added sweetener, I don't find it too bad. And I take the short cut of using ready made coils in my Protanks/Evods and just add small piece of rayon on top: www.fasttech.com/p/1591806
