Happy New Year Wendy & good choice going with Des' suggestion Storm, IMHO, the Eden Project is far from a white elephant - it's truly amazing! I think it's been the most successful millennium project & deserves to be.

Thanks for the heads up then Chrissie , I think it will go on our to do list Storm, if you do go, don't look at it as a garden to look round, instead, look at the architecture & concept And as I'm just a mile away, if you fancy a meet up, let me know

I was one of the structural engineers for the project and we were told that the amount of visitors they had drawn just to view the biometric dome construction far exceeded their opening season visitor predictions. the plants are great and all that but as Chrissie said its the architecture they chose to use for various things and the reasoning and ideas behind it..... you would be astounded by the amount of calculations we did for the compacted mud wall in the visitor centre. the African natives would die of laughter if they knew

just dont pick at it... that was our greatest concern, we were worried everyone would wanna have a pick to see how strong it was and it would end up like Swiss cheese

You must have had contact with my old company Gordy Re: the climate control ... I know it was a massive job and had to be spot on for the project .. It's good to see that it came to fruition and everyone seems to have good words to say about the project .. I deffo want to come down south and see for myself .. good excuse for a holiday in england

Storm, small world that you & Gordy where both involved in the creation of Eden Before it opened, they hoped they could attract 750,000 visitors a year - they hit over a million in the first year It really is an amazing place - www.edenproject.com/whats-it-all-about

It was my colleagues that were involved , I missed out on that job , but the company I worked for at the time where one of the best in the area of climate control and such , I heard a lot about the project and what a nightmare it was at the time to get things right , as I'm sure Gordy will confirm , Now it's all up and running I'd love to see it

AAE-C mini vapefest at Eden me thinks what was the company storm? we didn't have much direct correspondence with any of the services but if you name them they may ring a bell seeing it for the first time is like seeing something extraterrestrial... and to think all they wanted initially was a waterloo type canopy @ Chrissie have they mentioned anything about their cable car idea ...i remember due to the huge volume of visitors they had talked about having an overflow car park and a cable car to connect it
