I've been looking at inexpensive mechs on Fasttech and would like some feedback from the experts on here. I'm looking to pay under $30 and quite fancy black though that's not set in concrete. The one I really like the look of is the Heimdall Style Mechanical Mod (Full Set) www.fasttech.com/products/1770600 and it seems to cover my needs quite well. Only thing I have against it, is the bottom firing button. How easy is this to use. Most mechs seem to be this way configured and I've only used side button batteries, mods etc. Is this a sensible purchase or are there others on fasttech that would be a better bet. I'm looking forward to your insights, both pro and con but probably not looking forward to the bankruptcy and the workhouse this hobby is surely leading to. icon_shoppingm

was worried about the bottom button when I bought my maraxus but it's so easy to get used to, especially with that one due to the contours. I love mine and it's nice and small compared to my vamo

As shown its a hybrid adaptor, not first mech mod territory imo unless you read up and check the 510 on your atty

Fastech do the surfrider V2 xxix which is excellent, the top cap has a shoulder so you can't short out a flat top battery too, really nice mod, one piece tube, 18650.

Must admit I have bought my mods from FT, I have a Caravela which is my daily workhorse, batteries need to be flat-tops, but the full kit has 3 tubes so can take all sizes of battery. You'll quickly get used to using bottom-firing buttons sydsut and just make sure that you read up about battery safety first before using coils of less than about 1.2ohm (which is what I use!). Sorry I can't add a link, but I'm on my phone and it's not that easy - a quick search on the FT site will bring up what you need. Must agree with geordie_vaper though, a Nemesis would be a good alternative, again the full kit enables all battery sizes, and you can change the mechanical switch for magnets really easily and cheaply.

Have to agree with the shout for a nemesis. They take 350, 500 or 650 batteries so offer good flexibility, they have adjustable +/- pins so you can use a range of batteries and attys without the ugliness of gaps or telescopic mods.
On top of this you have a choice of brass, copper or stainless steel. I'd recommend brass to start with. It has higher conductivity than stainless, so hits harder. Copper will hit even harder, but is a much softer metal, so copper mods are more prone to thread wear, scratching and cosmetic damage.

Thanks for all the feedback , a lot of food for thought there. I've been on the Fasttech site again and realised that I was only getting a small selection of the mechs as I hadn't realised that you could see all the variations in materials, battery compatibility, colours, finishes, prices and so on. The Nemesis and Caravel full kits in black look nice as I like the finish on them. I have a few more questions though. What's a top cap geordie_vaper ? and what's meant by a hybrid adaptor arron ? . I've already ordered an RDA from focalecig (A Panzer Style RDA) and will get an RBA from fasttech , so any thoughts on something nice and cheap and compatible with the above. Thanks again.

nemi is a good 1st mod as is the singray x thing(brass inside ss so best of both worlds the top cap is the bit that sits on top of the tube that you screw your atty on to(510 connector might make more sense) the hybrid connector is basically the same thing but a LOT thinner and puts the atty bottom on to the batt were as the top cap has some bits between the atty so it make it a bout 5/10mm longer the stingray thingy www.fasttech.com/products/0/10009322/1806402-stingray-x-style-mechanical-modand the rose is a good atty to look at as it dont seem to leek(had mine for a while and not a drop has come outa it then there are kayfuns, foggers, krackens, orchid, and some new kids on the block erocin or summut but there is a thread on here about a group buy of them its mainly down to how dexterous you are and how good you eye sight/magnifying glass is lol would personaly stay a way from hybrid mods for now if i was you the vale plume is allso a awesome dripping atty ;p hope that helps ;p opps for got to add there is always the kato mod for a diff position for the fireing button but you cant realy drip on it as its the same shape as a vtr

I only lost my FT virginity a couple of months ago so the results have been arriving thick & fast recently. Overall I'm not impressed. Batteries that have had to have a cut down O ring fitted under the centre pin so they will fire, a battery that gets hot, clones of the Mini Nautilus that are just junk. sydsut when I was seduced by my first mech mod I was so concerned about a bottom fire button that I asked on here about how people pressed it. As they told me it just comes naturally. Only trouble is I keep pressing the bottom of side firing mods I've only got 2 mech mods so previous posters know a lot more about them than I do. I only use them at home so I don't want the bother of a locking ring. This means they must have a recessed fire button so they don't fire when put down. I've only had the second mod for a short time but it's the hardest hitting mod I have. It's a copper Cartel from M-Vapes and cost £24.95. I like it so much the Stainless Steel one is on my Xmas list. M-Vapes have such a good reputation that I know if I had a problem with it then it would be sorted out quickly.
