Me again!!! I am gutted because none of my Kayfuns will fire on my wife's iStick. On inspection, the centre pin of the Russians and Kayfun are slightly recessed, and I suspect therefore not making a good enough contact. I made the noob mistake of unscrewing the pin on one of them hoping that this would solve the problem, but then it failed to work at all. Advice given here last night meant that I ended up completely dismantling the centre pin assembly, releasing the positive block on the deck, to see if it was made in two parts allowing for some adjustment, as suggested in a video posted by thatguy. It doesn't. This means that I have to find some way of packing out the centre pin so that it protrudes enough to reach the pin in the 510 orifice of the iStick. Any ideas please? I've looked through my small collection of spare 'O' rings, but don't have anything suitable. Any advice on this would be most appreciated! Andy B

Tiny o'ring (destroy a disposable lighter there is normally one in the valve, empty it first) or I have managed to get a bit of extra length on the pin by tightly wrapping with PTFE tape.

Running my Kayfuns at about 1.3ohm - is that too low for the iStick? Now you come to mention that, I couldn't get them to work on another iStick this afternoon! You might have a point there enjay, now why didn't I think of that!

I've no idea what the lowest limit is on those things but definitely worth a check, most of the bought coils are like 1.5 and up so maybe that's what the istick is designed for.

From what I've read about the istick it should fire down to 1 ohm. Guess this could change among manufacturers. I've known vamos with limits ranging from 1.1 to 1.6 ohms.
Thats one of the problems with electronics - variance. Standard resistors used in circuits have a tolerance of between 1 and 10% so even two mods with the same circuitry could fire different resistances, and I've still to see any VV/VW mod that has circuits built to circumvent this problem, or to use resistors with lower tolerances. Even devices using semiconductors to measure voltages are subject to these tolerances.
Basically, unless you got two really poor mods, 1.3 ohm shouldn't be an issue.
If you cant adjust your Russian via the hidden threads then I'd guess you were stuck packing with an o-ring. I did this on a kayfun a few weeks ago using a 510 drip tip ring, but had to cut a section out. This can work but can lead to a short if over tightened so safer to source smaller o rings.
Recheck for the threads hidden part way up the pin, they can be tight as hell from the factory. If you still have problems, I can mail you a russian we no longer use since the 510 threads are damaged. You could try using the centre pin from this one on yours.

chykensaChrissie and I shouldn't have laughed so much yesterday when you tried your tanks on my istick . The coil in my Russian is 1.4 ohm.

I made a spacer from a bit of milk bottle top for a kfl clone so I could use it on my 4nine. Worked well and is still on there 6 months later.

Have you got any of those crappy little double ended screwdrivers that come free with a lot of attys chykensa ? They have small orings on them which will work for pin packing .

That's a strange one, as I only use Kayfun's & they all work fine on the i-stick........but the ohms thingy is a good point.......I run all mine around 2 ohms.

My taifun didn't fire at 0.8 ohms but I've knocked it about a bit and its fine at 1.4 lol. I'm a liability but works for me!!!

Yep, just a disc. Fiddley but takes about 5 mins and a sharp knife. The positive pin should go through the disc so the disc just sits behind the contact head.
