Problem with DCT cartomiser in 6.0ml DCT atty

I've got a strange problem with a replacement cartomiser on my DCT tank ??? . It's a dual coil 2.0 ohm with the single pre-punched hole. Worked fine at first and then stopped working and a message came on the Smoktech SID display as low load, then the message changed to short. I checked the resistance on a meter and it was all over the place. I removed it and left it aside. I tried it again today and it is now working but it's reading 4.0 ohm on the display and the meter. Has anyone come across this before? and is it caused by one of the coils going dead? Is it safe to continue to use it on any battery as, apart from the resistance, it appears to be working fine. Good flavour and plenty of vapour.

Hmm, looks as though there's not a lot of users (or ex users) on this site. I've been using it on and off for about 9-10 hours now and still working fine apart from the resistance.

I have had the samething with a nurtilus coil i tokevit apart and it seemed to be that the two coils inside was touching and have welded to each other i dont know if its the same with yours but that is what had happened to mine

sydsut I used to punch my DC's when I had tanks...

Have you tried an alternative carto? Or just cleaning the connection out with a cotton wool bud? (works on my VTR when it's throwing resistances )

Sounds like one of the coils has gone pop to me sydsut . . . the Low Load/Short message was a warning that something wasn't right before it did.

I have to agree. A dual coil unit @ 2ohms would consist of 2 coils @ 4ohms each. Defo looks like one has failed.

Not experienced with carto tanks but it's it is a dual coil, I tend to agree with the possibility thwt one of the coils has failed

Thanks to all who replied to this post . I will finish the e-liquid that's in the tank (takes a while as it holds 5.0-6.0 ml ) and clean out the atty and replace carto with a new one. I'll break open the dodgy carto and verify what went wrong. Also to see what's inside as this is the first dual coil I've used. Previously only used 2.4 ohm single coils.
