Its just a metal battery tube with a button, no electronics

It is a tube, think of it like a torch body.

Popping a battery in it makes a circuit and makes it work.

It can never fail like vtr etc because there are no electronics in it to fail.

There is a battery, the atty connection connects directly to the +ve of the battery and a switch (normally at the bottom) can complete the circuit to the -ve of the battery and the current flow through the body.  There are no wires at all.

The tube, think an empty torch tube has pins at either end, once you pop a battery in it causes electric , this is transferred to the coil in the tank on top.

That is probably a rubbish explanation as I don't understand electronics, try this - the best explanation I have ever found

Nice. That article has a picture of a Kamry KT-S+... one of the few mechs I have actually stored in box should there be an apocalypse.

Yes, the second part of your sentence 

you can buy a kick for some mechs which adds the electronics as an option.

The vid I posted should explain, ohms law is confusing but if you are using a standard coil you have no worries.

probably posted this pic 3 times but think its relevant.

These are both nemesis mech mods.

the only button on it is on the bottom underneath - that makes the battery connect and supplies power to the atty - no electronics to speak of
