Just a quick one. Ive coiled my Lemo tonight, 11 raps .3 ni200 2.5mm bit and got .25ohms, but the coil lights up on 430 degrees then shuts off the temp sensor, coiled it twice now and im getting the same thing. do you think there could be a short in the Lemo ??.

Sure the more experienced will be along soon but you sure it's ni200? asking as when I ordered .25 ni200 from the vape mesh company they put some .2 in for free of what I assummed was ni, tried it today and same as your saying happen, so not too sure what the freebie wire is.

Very wrong it shouldn't glow ar 430° F, I can see a faint dark red at 600° F with Ni200 geni build. @letsavit probably has the right of it.

As Tom said @scooby the former was 3.2 mm diameter. Connections problems are a real PITA with my clone Orchid & twisted 0.16 mm (34 AWG) and I'm considering cutting short sections of screw thread to put in the terminals. Also the coils I posted for the Orchid are two short and I went up to 10 wraps. Sorry, you were right @scooby I put the wrong diameter in the SteamEngine link well spotted and it does give a much closer result only 23% off.

Thanks @letsavit and VapingBad. Its the same wire ive used on the Squape mk1 and Erlkonigen, both working a treat.19 ohms 22watts and great. The lemo seamed to be working ok on Kanthal .25 at 12 watts, I might strip it down later and see if there's a short somewhere.

Don't know why I'm answering this michnig with my problems but what I do is turn the TP off by adjusting the temp to 600f then off. Pulse and pinch, pulse and pinch, but do it gently, the coils are quite delicate. If not a contact coil do the same with out pinching and check for hot spots much the same as a kanthal build. Turn the TP on and set to what you want, 430F is as good as any. Take the atty off and have a cuppa to let the coils come to room temp then re attach and try again.

Yeah, but with the numbers we're talking the difference in wraps between 0.20 and 0.19 wire is 10%, then this is compounded by any inaccuracy of coil calculators and of course former tolerance. Like you said, hitting your desired resistance is something that will come as we get more practiced with Ni wire.

Had a play! Twisted 0.2mm Nickel. 3.2mm diameter. 10 wraps. 0.2ohms. The twisted wire makes the nickel much easier to work with. I wrapped the coil around the other way than normal, this meant tightening the screws down loosens the lead to the wire, this gives you the extra room to get the coil nice and high over that air hole. 3.2 diameter and 0.2 twisted gives you a pretty giant coil, probably as big as I'll ever go in a Kayfun. WOW. Vaping at 25W with temp control set to 430F. The flavour is amazing, the vapour is amazing (50/50 RA). The nano tank isn't staying full very long. The DNA40 is really impressing me. Looking forward to trying some RDA builds

I'm with you there Tom that twisted 0.2 mm is really good in kayfuns, 3.2 mm twisted is my favourite type of kayfun coil so far. When I first got the DNA40 I vaped it side by side with one with twisted 0.27 mm kanthal on a DNA30 and the pre-heat was so effective with coils that size it was the first wow (you go stright to the vape you used to get after about a second and a half), but as you say the flavour is better and consistent. I find that you with my liquid the flavour profile changes a little depending on the temp you set.

Ive been having a play and contrary to what I would have thought 400F is the real sweet spot for me with this. I won't be changing this build out for a little while (I hope). Cheers VB

Glad it's not just me Tom, blakey has also posted about the improved flavour, those who are discounting temp limiting as a gimmick or believe that they can achieve the same vape without it are missing out IMO.

No I can definitely agree VapingBad, sadly I need to wait for a temp update for the p3, its going to be a secondary device until then. Ive only got one kayfun left with kanthal in it.

Had a few coil tests already on the new vaporshark, with 0.3mm nickel. First came in at 0.19R, got a lot of Temp Control messages at low (7W) so tried again with twisted 0.3 and that one was... 0.07R. A really nice vape and sat on 20W pretty solid, but being below 1R it went out and in came another un-twisted coil this time 0.19R again. This one bounces around 18-20W running @ 25W and though TC kicks in, it's usually long enough at the end of a draw that it's not noticeable. All tests with 400F as the TC limit, using Rayon.
Soon as I raised the max temp to 450F the TC messages vanish and it's bouncing around the 400F mark merrily.
Good this thing innit?

Good this thing innit? bloody marvellous! have a good play, having high watts and a low temp - 400F/25W for example - the juice is kicking immediately and it holds a really consistent flavour throughout, obviously lots of temp control, but the flavour profiles of some juices are completely different at 400F and 450F, no loss of flavour or vapour, just different

Did this for the removal of doubt (gotta watch vaping at home with the ales flowing!) and not having to dig an ohmmeter out
