On Thursday, she left to spend a week up in Leeds with our son, his partner and 3 of our grandchildren, as she does 3 or 4 times a year So, knowing that this break was coming up, I ordered my self a Quad-copter to while away those hours of loneliness and boredom. I went out and flew my quad-copter for the first time today, what fantastic fun......... but after getting back home and loading up the video taken from the quad, something caught my eye, through the window. Now, I am quite used to seeing large members of the Laridae family flying past my window but this was slightly different, slightly larger. I may have to sell the quad and get one of these.

Int flying great? It is great fun davetherayon , I remember as a youngster seeing middle aged men with their remote controlled model aircraft and thinking that one day, I will have one of those.......well I missed the middle aged session but have managed it as an old git When I first saw the the chap with the flying wing go past my window, I swear his wing-tip was no further than 2 Mt. from my window.

That looked crazy lol thought he was gonna ruin his chances of father hood on a lamppost a few times lol.

I realise that cameras don't always give a true representation of distance BUT I wouldn't want my nuts that close to the top of those lampposts.

My boss (hope he doesn't read aaec, lol) is obsessed at a plane crashing into where we work. Despite the fact that Langar (while it hosted huge American aircraft in WW2) hasn't seen a big airplane since the end of the war. It does mean though that we have better disaster recovery plans than probably 90% of the rest of the computing world

Want a cup of tea? Must say he's risking it flying so low down, hardly the best place.

Don't bloody frighten us like that Neil! I couldn't do that to save my life. I hate heights, weird though as it's a fairly recent thing... I climbed Chichen Itza in '98, when you were still allowed, before H&S ruled that climbing an ancient monument that is over 95 feet tall, with no guard rails at the top, was probably a little dangerous!

I have a friend who does this over the cliffs on the north coast of Cornwall, usually in winter when the updrafts are at their best. He soars for hours on end, with no motorised backup, and had a narrow escape when he skimmed the top of a tree. Only when he walked past it a few days later did he realise that it was a hawthorn, with (as its name suggests) thorns long enough to comprehensively emasculate him had he hit the top. He reckoned he was doing 40mph at the time - doesn't bear thinking about

How is it dangerous, what they could do it 5, 10,000 years ago but with our superior knowledge, we can't walk up steps, jesus you couldn't fall off it if you tried? Ah got it, there are no elevators for the yanks.
