Just tried testing mine after reading this thread and got up to 450 before a very slight burn on the cotton, *then turned temp off and the cotton instantly caught alight, could of lit a cigarette off from it, remember them....! Anyway hence your board is doing some temp control, just not as accurate as it should be so the tried and tested wire being sent your way could be the answer. *dont do this it home kids, its dangerous and I don't have my children this week so it's my play and plug anything into anything test week...! As much as I won't be posting many pics of my beginners coil building skills, heres my firsts, straight of a screwdriver pinched cold. Had 3no. 4.5mils of red Astair though these all sucked dry, there is a slight burn to the cotton but look at the state of my coil, it's not you, it's the wire or the board. Next coil for me will be spaced as the slight cotton burn mark is where my crap coil was bunched. This is not a my vaporshark is working great and yours isn't mate, I feel your frustration. This is now my second, my first use to fire for as long as it felt like it all by self. Now my second did this today, had it since Monday, could of done it loadsbefore as you can't see the srcreen while vaping. It goes back to normal after sleep mode. For anyone who had trouble with the first batch is this it or something else I should be concerned about, do I need a f**king 3rd...love this device but vapoursharks OC is s**t. I thought all VS DNA40 users vaped in front of a mirror

Longish thread @letsavit but the scrambled screen and other issues similar to mine are discussed. clickyI'll find out if it's the wire soon but in the meantime I'll be on the lookout for a small mirror on a stick perhaps a dental one would work

Should have said @letsavit thanks for your confidence in me 'it's not you, it's the wire or the board' I hope so, I've built over 20 different coils for 3 different atties in the few days so I've had loads of practice.

Right my vaporshark POS is back in box, can't be bothered trying to replicate the fuzzy screen.
Redone kayfun with old fashion wire which is happily sitting on my slug mech, feel much safer now than using that vapor shark POS, nice solid trigger switch and no board to do what it feels like, did I say vaporshark POS enough......

@scooby I can mail you some 0.16 mm & 0.2 mm Ni200 I got from the states, as it should be a different supply chain from VMC. That 0.45mm stuff I'm using in my KFL+ is the one from VMC and not having any problems with it, in fact I let the tank empty right to dry, had to cut the wick to remove it without damaging the coil and although it had some gunk on it from the coil gunking up it definitely wasn't burnt, and switching temp off and dry firing the coil removed all the gunk just as it should do, so I am well pleased with it.

As suspected the wire was causing my problems. Thanks for all the input and offers of help. With the wire supplied by VapingBad and Tom I have 4 attties built and the DNA40 is behaving itself, so thanks once again to them. I'll follow up with how my builds are performing in the other thread. One positive thing to come out of this is the practice I've had building coils from nickel, must be approaching 30 now. Just to add, please don't follow my links and buy from Wires.co.uk which is part of Scientific Wire Company and apologies if anyone already has.

Got to ask, is the dual coil 2mm doing the job?

Got to ask, is the dual coil 2mm doing the job? Two strands of twisted 0.20mm is one of the better performers. Will post in the other thread shortly.

I've spent the evening with the new vaporshark nautilus temperature sensing coils, the ohms on the ones I have are .4 which is a lot more than the coils I make on my atties -usually they're between .11 & .19 but at .4 they are doing a pretty grand job there are 0.2ohm coils available judging by the check boxes on the side of the packet. Filled with my beloved cocomel I've been through a couple of tanks and this thing hasn't missed a beat- to make sure that it wasn't a fluke coil I fitted another and it's performing exactly the same. Set to 400 on the temp cos cocomel doesn't like being too warm and run at between 12 & 14w I'm finding it a superb vape. Quite impressed, if you have a dna40 and you have a nautilus then you really should give one a go- faff free dna temp sensing at its simplest

When they are done you will have to let us know how many turns of what thickness wire they are using blakey. The DNA40 manual/spec/instruction sheet does give 0.4 as the typical resistance for Ni200 coils.

Will do mate, I'm off to bed and It'll be interesting to see whether or not the overnight nickle build gremlins have their fun. Been a stable coil since about 15:00hrs today, both of the ones I tried in fact. I've also run a tank dry and continued Vape the whispy vapour and not a hint of burning, refilled and it fired up nicely again with no burnt taste.

BTW blakey I found where the ChiOrigenny was leaking from, I has to put one of the thinner o'rings below the tank.

It looked like it was coming from the air hole ??? Was it flooding past the o-ring up to the deck ??? Tried a nickel build on a single mesh wick just for the hell of it on one of mine and it was stable from the off. I must've been lucky or my Attie has better threading ??? Very reluctant to disturb the bugga now
