Can anyone tell me the difference between VG Nic and PG Nic, Im assuming I want VG as the mixes I make will primarily be VG although Im unsure as to if that changes the percentages or is even correct?
Better safe than sorry.

No difference at all really. It's just your preference what base your nic is in.
Personally I have a bottle of PG nic and a bottle of VG nic. depending on my mix ratio I will use whicever one suits although I do seem to use more VG nic

Cheers rughead121, so to confirm either one wouldn't change the percentage of either VG/PG added? Do they have any discernible features?

Yes they will change the ratio of PG/VG. If you use a mixing calculator you enter into it your nic strength and its PG/VG content then it works it all out for you The only differenc I can see is the VG Nic is thicker but you would expect that as VG is thicker than PG. There is no taste and the throat hit is the same with either

As an example if you wanted to make 10ml of juice at 50/50 PG/VG your total PG will be 5ml and your total VG will be 5ml.
You choose a flavour to use at 20% so you will add 2ml of flavour but this is PG based so you will deduct 2ml from your total PG to add. Your Nic base is 72mg VG base and you want 14mg strength so you will add 20% nic base or 2ml but this is VG so must be deducted from your total.
Your resulting recipe looks like this: Nic base 2ml Flavour 2ml PG 3ml VG 3ml

rughead121 you are a star buddy, kind thanks. I hadn't even considered that the flavorings would have a vg/pg base. Very, very helpful.

Better safe than sorry. If you want VG heavy mixes you need nic in VG. justvape247 do quite a few concentrates in VG.

I only use VG base for myself whiteshep being PG intolerant . . . though I can cope ( just ) with the PG ratio of my flavourings. So mixing for me is fairly simple - I always measure out my nic base & flavours as per a calculator, then just top up with plain VG until the level looks about right in the bottle. It might not be everyone's way of mixing, but it works for me and is very straightforward.

The absolute basic kit for mixing would be: Concentrates Nic base Syringes Bottles. But to expand further: You will need a 1ml syringe (nail varnish the markings straight away, they disappear rapid). Keep nic base in the fridge and be careful using it, licking off any splashes really ruins the accuracy of the mixing as your head spins. Concentrates - start small, don't go for 6 concentrate mixes to start with, sure fire way to waste a lot of liquid. Bottles - I suggest mixing in 5ml batches. Yes it's a right PITA waiting for stuff to steep them realise that it was perfect and then having to wait another 2 weeks on another batch but i assure you that a rubbish 50ml batch will be even more annoying. Just like cookery, sometimes the most unusual flavours complement each other, don't be scared to experiment - IN SMALL QUANTITIES

Thanks to all who replied and I've started to acquire the bits and pieces I need. I have the bottles. And @johanino has very kindly sent me some concentrates to get started. . I can get VG at Boots the chemists so I still need PG and VG Nic base and syringes. Can you get the syringes/needles over the counter at a chemists or do you need a prescription? PG and Nic base look as though they'll have to ordered over the net. Is there anything else such as glass mixing utensils or is this just needed when the batches get bigger? Also I read somewhere about special gloves.

I get my syringes on Ebay . . . though if you're ordering Nic Base /PG through a Vendor, then it's always worth checking out their mixing accessories first sydsut just for ease as much as anything. Personally I don't use gloves, on the rare occasion I get any base on my hands - then washing it off immediately sorts that out.

You should be able to get nic base, PG and syringes from the same online vendor sydsut. You don't need to be worrying about glass beakers at this stage and you can wear special gloves - I don't bother as I find they make me less dexterous. As long as you are very careful and if you do get nic base on your bare hands, you wash it off straight away, you'll be fine.
