These are an accident waiting to happen, hopefully the wiring will burn out before the switch welds it's self permanently on. But you can add an FET, a resistor, some better wire and battery springs. You could also make a squonker from it, modmaker has Fat Daddy squonking pin kits.

Those switches won't handle much current and can fail in a number of ways. The plastic can melt so the contacts could short, the spring could collapse with the heat and most dangerous of all the contacts could arch and weld together making it permanently on.

Fuses would be a good idea to.

There should be enough room to put a FET with a resistor in to make it an electrical switch and these can handle massive currents.  It is a very easy job to do and should cost less than a fiver, ModMaker.co.uk have several.  Here is a thread about how to wire them.
