What to do when the only way to stream catch-up TV is through the wii at the world's lowest definition? Upgrade. Buy some shiny!!! Just plugged, payed (*) and played with a ROKU 2. Darn impressive stuff. Shame you need a Credit Card to get started*, no charges yet, but I'll find a way around that soon enough. I could have used PayPal, but I figured, if these people start taking money, I'm hedging my bets with Mr HSBC instead of PayPal. Nice.

No, I haven't got any Blu ray discs, but I'm not too bothered about that side of it. Apart from the news, I tend to record everything & watch it whenever I want to, so I really needed a recorder with a decent sized hard drive Plus it's useful that you can copy anything you want to save long term, to disc Above all though, it's going to be good to be able to watch via i-player anything I've forgotten to record, on my TV rather than on my laptop

TV mostly bores me.

Must admit that I bought us a Samsung Smart TV just before Christmas last year, and it's ace. Hooks up seamlessly to the WIFI, and we can watch Freeview channels plus all the on-demand channels via the TV too. We're not into watching films etc., but we do now have NetFlix although it's only the girls who use it. I'm quite happy watching YouTube videos via the TV when I get the chance - and you can search on your mobile and then enter a code which allows you to watch on the bigger screen - brilliant. I know what you mean though, djs, once the girls have gone to bed, it's onto the laptop for me (usually around 10pm if my wife's up at 4.30am for work the next morning!). See you all later

If I have to look at another Tellytubby it's dalek-smileytime Oh and the missus would rip my arm off if I touched the remote while 'Strictly' was on

Currently use a £35 tablet from fasttech to watch TV catchup type services, streaming stuff from netflix etc and for streaming movies off my PCs hard drive. A great little upgrade for the TV for minimal outlay.

Just a quick update - I put this aside till today as it was a Christmas present to myself. Hesitated setting up as I didn't want to be tearing my hair out on Christmas day., but was at a loose end so decided to go for it. So glad I did - it's blooming brilliant, the upscaling is fantastic the set up was easy - especially the connection to my Brightbox
