I have been vaping for 4 years plus and it took me ages to find out what I like to vape, dual fuelled for a while, all the usual ups and downs, been trying to tempt the Mrs for ages but she's having none of it and when I get her to try my latest setup which is currently a protank on an istick she coughs and splutters and says it's no good to her, is she just having me on cos she doesn't want to quit (which she doesn't) or has anyone else come across this?
For info I vape 50/50 vg/pg 15mg Red Astaire, can anyone suggest anything else to try?

I've been vaping for nearly 3 years and Mr K has always been very resistant to change. we moved house in the summer and after the cleaning I had to do in the old house I put my foot down and banned smoking in the house. when I'm not around he is smoking in the porch, he thinks I don't know anyhow, since the weather has got worse poor Mr K hasn't much liked having to stand outside at night so has shown an interest in vaping. First of all he insisted he only wanted one that was like a ciggie So I humoured him even though it was a right pain charging and filling the carto all the time, but Mr K was happy. I then managed to get him onto an SDK keyring as he was going to the pub one day and I pointed out that a cigalike would not last the afternoon. Again i was getting fed up with the filling and charging so i just didn't bother then presented him with a Spinner and an Iclear 16. After playing about with the dial he eventually gave in and said wow this is better I like this He's still very much smoking but this is a huge step forward. Oh also I had to find him a 'tobacco' juice. Luckily I found some freedom Vape Chocolate Tobacco, he seems to be liking it I think your wife needs more reason to try it and perhaps a more cig-a-like experience to try?

My daughter was the same until I managed to convince her , not only on financial grounds, but as a bonus vaping is certainly less harmful than smoking. Her big problem was that vaping would still leave her craving for a fag!
I let her try a few of my diy mixes until she found a few she liked, then set her up with a evod tank and a couple of spinner v2's I had laying about, made her two bottles of 30ml diy ( fruit flavours, as it's the ones she likes) and she has now been smoke free for a month, started her on 18mg, and will slowly drop the Nic over the next year.
She never quit smoking before, and loves vaping now.

Red Astaire mate - of course she's spluttering. Makes me splutter, and I used to inhale cigars.

My Brother is just the same, has no intentions of stopping smoking but has cut down, he tried my equipment and juices and was spluttering and coughing, and said it was not for him. He has had 2 new heart valves which ruptured whilst coughing and smoking, then has the gaul to tell me his Doctor said he was ok to smoke as his heart is repaired now! I could have throttled him and cut his 'comb over' hair even though he is 77 yrs old.

Also it takes a little while to adjust from smoke to vapour. My daughter in law wants to quit ( istick in her pressie pile lol). She always tries different juces etc and has tried all the diff mods and tanks but because its a couple puffs then bk on the stinkies it makes her cough n splutter. Also if she is trying to inhale like a CIG that won't help. Gently toot into mouth then inhale into lungs rather than a direct lung inhale.

the technique is vital in getting someone to switch, especially in the early days. My first toot on a ce4/ego setup made me cough as I tried to draw it like a fag - NO!!! Once they're over that it should be easier

I do feel for everyone in this situation. I have this too.
The best set-up (possibly the only set-up) I could get my missus to use was a basic clearo on an EVOD battery. Anything more and she coughs so badly, I half expect nasty things to happen to her.
Flat out of ideas, me... but higher power is not the answer i.m.o.

I've banned smoking in the house Karma , tried the money angle and the healthier aspect car147 tried educating her on the difference in vaping and smoking igual maybe the Red isn't the best for a beginner buggritt good point that, maybe a spinner with an iclear might be worth a try with some tobacco flavour as that's where we mostly start, or maybe she just isn't ready yet.

A mate of mine expressed interest in my vaping gear, he tried to use it like a smoker would inhale and coughed his ring up. Once he got the idea he bought my original kit and is now very happily vaping on ego's and mini protank, so in my opinion it is all about the difference on drawing on a fag and an ecig.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but she will be ready when, and only when, she decides.......not you or anybody else and that's speaking from personal experience. The more you push it the more she'll probably rebel against the idea.....and despite the hype surrounding it Red Astaire is most definitely an aquired taste and not the best liquid for anybody to be starting out with. Buy her an iStick and either a couple of Aspire K1's or an Aspire Nautilus Mini and some coils and then ask her to have a look here LiQuid and pick £10 worth of assorted flavours that take her fancy. If she doeesn't take to it you've still got the gear and at worst it's cost you a tenner in flavours you may or may not not like yourself. If she does take to it everyone's a winner.

But yeah am totally with folk on the technique. I tend to recommend people who've never vaped watch some igetcha videos to watch his technique and learn. Tis different from smoking And yes, she'll be ready when she's ready And then she'll get shinyitis and it'll have to be pink Pepperty

When I started vaping, my OH was not too supportive. I just let it ride, and about 6 months ago, after I had been vaping for nearly 2 years, she said 'When my fags run out perhaps I'll try one of those vaping things!' I gave her an iClear 16 with a Spinner, using some fruit flavours - she loved it and stopped the fags overnight. She's now a committed vaper, and has an iStick with Protanks or an Aerotank on top, using Minty the Toff, Red Astaire, or various of my homemade concoctions. I suspect that if you leave the decision to her smarties she might come around in her own time, rather than when you think she's ready!

Tell her she ant getting any until she try's, always works for my girlfriend...!
Seriously though like you I hated vaping before I found a flavour I liked, that also being red Astair. First week I never coughed so much in my life, never had a smokers cough before but had a vapors one...! Even gave up and went cold turkey for a day but the cravings started so gave vaping another chance the next day.
My advice would be to take her to a shop where she can try loads of flavours and try to get her to duel, that way she can miss out on the suffering of crap flavours and get use to inhaling PG/VG all at once.
for me pesonally giving up smoking via vaping takes little will power, it does kill off cravings. Enjoying it does take some time and you need to want to give up smoking.
