They might try, really looking forward to using a DNA40 with a dripper and squonker, should cut down maintenance with wicks etc quite a bit

Surely not, I thought evolv had a patent on on VW too but that didn't stop others.

vapourflask are making a squonker i posted it in genral discussions but dont think anyone cares same design as the flask but istead of two batteries just one and a bottle to give a good old squonking too

Evolv will have a patent on their name, nothing else. They have invented nothing, just used technology all ready around us and bought it to vaping. I now own 2 of their boards and am all for supporting them to move vaping forward or catch up depending on how you want to look at it..! but if they're claiming to have a patent on pre heating a coil to a set temperature it's is a fast, if they did invent it and had a patent on it my car wouldn't start this morning....!

They could have a patent on their solution to temp control, but not the concept.

It would be how they did it, circuits & firmware.

Here is someone's Arduino temp control, cool, but gonna use a lot of battery when done on a general purpose processor board.

That`s showing 50 watts all the way through, so not really relevant to the DNA40 clone  ???

It's not, around 1:30 it's at 60 W on a constantly changing wattage display, yea it's not a DNA copy no pre heat for one, just posted to show there is more than one way to skin a cat in regard to patents.

May be my monitor, but it looks like 50W all the way through to me, all it seems to be showing is overall board temperature control which I wouldn`t have thought was patentable. They are just showing it works aren`t they?

IIRC they are monitoring current & voltage to measure resistance. So I would guess they are using a digital potentiometer on the Raptor to adjust the voltage controlled by the Arduino that does the maths and controls the display.

Yes I suppose they could do. electronics Is way over my head but I reckon an engineer and a solicitor could get round the patent in about an hours meeting, half of that drinking coffee. Move a resistor here, turn that one 90degrees......Not that it matters the Chinese can't even be bothered removing evolv from the start up...!
