Just want to say how refreshing it is to see all the newbies on the site, great to read all the threads and we all remember what its like when we first start vaping. But its also sad that still millions of people are unaware of ecigs, the last few weeks ive popped to bilston market to support vapebreak and the amount of people who dont even know they exist is mind blowing.

At some point it reall should take off if 1 person coverts 2 others (and i've converted over 10) then you get 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 512, 1024 thats over 1000 starting from 1 in only 9 steps! I think what has held us back before is the technology. I've been vaping over 2 years and it's only recently I truly feel we have a good enough products with minimum "faff" that most people can use to get good results. It will soon reach critical mass, vaping is already being looked into by the big tobacco companies, you can be sure they are aware and are starting to plan how they will enter the market and perhaps ultimately dominate it. So enjoy it while you can folks because once they have their teeth into this, especially if vaping is as "harmless" as we believe for them it will be heaven, no more health warnings, no more advertising bans. And perhaps the smaller Guys will get pushed out as they (tobacco companies) get legislation pushed through in order to corner the market.

Whenever I go into our town centre, all I seem to see is people smoking, though I probably take more notice since I gave up. There's a market twice a week here and I reckon that some entrepreneur just could make a few £'s if they had the money to set up a stall.

I didn't know a couple of weeks ago that these types of e-cigs existed, now a total convert and have started 4 others on it and 3 in the wings.....
I have to agree with Des though that I fear the big lads may well take over and that will be such a shame.

I work in a place that employs about 400 people, I've converted many, never ever forced it on anyone though, only helped people that come and ask questions. Also out and about I give out vendors cards to anyone that shows an interest. I imagine that most of you are doing the same so it's only a matter of time before this vaping malarky really becomes unstoppable in the market place.

maybe we could have a brain storm and see how we can spread the word... its not only beneficial to the converted smoker but to us too by having a bigger following and a louder voice

Couldn't agree more on all counts River I think one of the biggest problems is that even when folks hear about e-cigs, they either/or stand to be ripped off or haven't got a clue which to buy or get the best out of them. That's always been my main aim of this forum, to help new folks as much as possible I also think we need to get the word out there by linking to this & other forums at every opportunity.

I was rond at my mates on the weekend and had gone outside for a vape (they have a toddler, so fair dos). As I did, the upstairs neighbour and her partner came out. I looked round to say hi, and he said 'Oh, my mates got one of those', pointing at my Riva. 'They are really expensive'. I pointed out that mine was only thirty quid, and I got basically two devices for that price*, but he said 'I'm on the inhaler' and flashed on of those Nicorette sprays at me (which surely can't be cheaper in the long run). Ho hum. *I omitted to mention how much I've spent since on gadgets, cartos, juice etc though

my thinking is that people may not know how effective e-cigs are as a real alternative to smoking... i dont think this is helped by the way they have been advertised to the main stream ie disposables at tesco, available in betterware catalogue and infomercials... they kinda come across as a cheap and nasty waste of money device. we need a way for them to be seen as not a wanna be cigarette but a superior product to a cigarette.

I agree Gordy - I first heard of them on Ryanair! Also, if you just Google e-cigarettes you get pages of gateway vendors. You have to dig deep to find the good stuff.
As others have said, word of mouth is very effective and it seems to me they are spreading like wildfire. Most of the people I know in my age range are non smokers or have long since given up. However in the few weeks since I got my daughter and daughter in law going at least 3 or 4 of their friends have tried their Rivas, been impressed, and are going to get one. That age range seems like fertile ground!

Completely agree as well River - it's fantastic to see! Generally, I've a few Supplier's cards in my pockets, so when I'm at work and get customer's enquiring about the revolting herbal cigarettes or filter things that we stock . . . I bung them a Supplier's card surreptitiously and give them a quick demo on my Riva.
