Could anyone tell me if using these things when they're past the use by dates is an issue when vaping? I'm assuming the use by dates are a legal requirement for the flavour concentrates and vg and pg liquid because they have uses in food and other applications. Is there a problem using these for ejuice, how can i tell if somethings gone off? Does the nicotine solution degrade?

I am really sorry! I should have checked dates but I didn't even consider it!

All depends on how they've been stored Get Off My Cloud . . . I'm using gear that in theory is well past it's date, it's all absolutely fine. Some flavourings are likely to degrade the quickest, due to the ingredients. As a rough guide ( again dependant on storage ) you're probably good for a couple of years with most. Nicotine base will darken in colour if it's not stored in glass/fridge/freezer . . . . that doesn't mean it's gone off, it's just a natural process. Smell & taste are your best indicators on their suitability.

In my experience, most concentrates, e-liquids & Nic, will be fine way past the "best before" date on the bottle.... Providing they have been stored in reasonable conditions, i.e out of sunlight, away from heat, etc.
We normally allow 1 to 2 years future date when we make our liquids (personally, I only vape over 1 year old matured e-liquid now, out of preference for better taste).

I agree with all!!! The secret is in the proper storage!!! As Perpetua said, I could say in other words that the most powerful vaping tool we got is our nose... Concentrates, sometimes when they're past their "before date" they become weak in smell... if they're not completely off I add 5-10% more than the suggested dosage (e.g. if my recipe says 1ml of A, I simply add 1.1ml of A)... so far worked fine... The only thing I would never experiment with, is a nicotine base that is darker than pale yellow... In cases of pale yellow nicotine bases, my guide is my nose and tongue (of the prepared e-liquid)

I take sell by dates with a pinch of salt -- and that includes food! if it smells and tasted fine, its a goer As all the gear you have from Ratz has been unused for a while its probably been stored in a box in shed/attic/under bed/spare room etc. So non exposure to light and heat will have extended its life. Nose and taste test will be your answer (don't go a neck the concentrated nicotine!!)

Thanks everyone all the base liquids are clear except the nic in vg which is like a dark yellow/pale orange so to be on the safe side i shall flush that. Ratfinkz don't worry about it please, i'm not.

Going off means either the nicotene looses strength or the flavour has muted/changed. They don't go off in terms of not being safe to use.

(personally, I only vape over 1 year old matured e-liquid now, out of preference for better taste). Funny you should say that. Last week I found some juice I'd made up on 22nd December 2013 making it just over a year old and obviously wasn't liking it much back then otherwise it wouldn't still be there, anyway I thought ok let's see what this is like now, tried it and found it quite lovely and really matured. The almost 10ml bottle was finished last night so it was obviously much better tasting after a year's steeping

Jim Haha, that bottle and a few others I've also found now were from the days back when I was experimenting with different flavours trying to find ones I really did like Only problem now is that I've lowered my nicotine level since then but never mind it won't hurt to finish off these bottles even at a higher nic strength
