I use a sonic cleaner to clean my filters and tanks, its the JPL Cordless Basket Ultrasonic 7050
I had read I could put the dual coils in there too. So Ive been putting Kanger original and new version dual coils, plus Aspire Nautilus coils into it with just plain warm water.
Im then leaving them for up to a week in the airing cupboard to dry out, but without fail they all seem to have a taste to them. I cant describe the taste, just that its not normal when compared to a coil out of the packaging.
Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong?
I was expecting the same coil to last a lot less than a new coil, but the taste to be the same.

It all depends on whether you add anything to the water. Rinsing whatever out usually takes maybe three times longer than the original claeaning in the bath, with water changes at each stage. I add nothing but pure lemon juice.
I find it best to 'dry burn' coils before the ultrasound. That way the US bath only has to knock dry deposits off the coil. As always doesn't hurt to 'dry burn' after cleaning, just to be sure. Of course if you have anything but silica/ss wicks you'll have to remove them first and rewick when dry.

About a year and a half ago, I removed a coil from an atomiser body/shell (Kanger one) and sonic cleaned it 10 times over. Guess what came off? Nothing. Not a thing. It doesn't remove anything. However, the wick (silica) is nice and clean so you can then dry burn the coil.

Hiya djs. Always depends on the kit you have. The OP has a JPL which I understand is 'budget' kit. My US is dental lab kit and can knock the spots off a leopard. ETA: Dont mean to sound condescening at all, to anyone.

I use a JPL 7000 and I have put some pretty dirty ceramic cups into it and they always come out spotless and so does my atomisers.

Use mine for ceramic cups with good results too, also use it to revitalise crystallized concentrate with good results, mines a £20 cheapo from Aldi. Never used it for coils though so can't comment on that.

Is the cheap aldi one I have better than normal cleaning or am I just wasting my time. Stuff comes up clean but can't say the water after shows loads of crud its pulled off. with regards to vaping stuff anything we should not put in there?

I couldn't really say @letsavit, tbh I never even looked at the ones from aldi. I do know either aldi or lidl were selling a battery one once. Not much good, really need mains for the power. If it works then it's fine No electronics or batteries should go in. Everything else is safe, including pyrex and o-rings. As for additives a few drops of washing up liquid. Some use milton or steradent tablets which is fine so long as they get a good rinse. My favourite is a few drops of lemon juice, either fresh or jif. Bear in mind some metals may react to the steradent tabs. Brass would be highly reactive.

@letsavit If it's proper pyrex I wouldn't expect glass to break. Maybe you did overload it. Or maybe you have a really good transducer on your's

I got a £20 Aldi one, mains, and it seems to clean tanks quite well. I usually recoil and wick when I clean the tanks anyway, never found dry burning and cleaning quite gets rid of the old juice smell. But........should I use the basket or not? I understand it reduces the effectiveness of the cleaning, AND, should I only put a few bits in at a time or can I put quite a lot in, so the bottom of the tank in nearly covered? Or maybe I should just try different options, but I'm always happy for advice from those who know.

I wouldn't use the basket either sleedale. I feel if you're cleaning enough parts to need the basket you're overloading. The basket would zap some of the power too.

The trick to ultra sonic cleaning is using a detergent with zero salt, Salt is used in 99% of detergents as a preservative! I work for a surfactant manufacturer funnily enough my kit is squeaky clean If anyone needs salt free detergent.................PM Cheers Dave

I have recently bought an ultrasonic cleaner (JPL 7000) and wanted to ask a question regarding them. I have the Squape R and would it be safe to clean in there with the borocilicate glass tank? I don't want to break it if at all possible. Sorry if it's a silly question.
