It does look like the glue does spread the fire. But what ignites it in the first place. Digital switching (PWM) by design should not produce noticable heat, certainly not enough to feel never mind ignite the glue.

Found it VapingBad. My bad tho, post #174 = reply #173 If there was that much sustained heat a user would feel/see the glue oozing out of the bottom, it could even stick their mod down on whatever surface it's on. I do like the glue melting theory, but only as a fuel and not the source of ignition.

Digital switching (PWM) by design should not produce noticable heat, certainly not enough to feel never mind ignite the glue. It does seem that the glue has gone and there was burning across the surface of the board which I would think used something as fuel as the components wouldn't burn like that IMO. Still very odd/poor that something got that hot with the mod just sitting in stand-by mode.

Component failure VapingBad. Pure and simple. The point of ignition is looking more and more to be somewhere around the chokes (coils). Probably not the coils themselves as they shouldn't be active at all in standby. I need to autopsy a dead one!! Making assumptions is bad for the health.

I agree, was asking what you thought about the fire marks after all the silicon doesn't make good fuel for flames on some picks the inductor of choke looks intact and if you think that the glue is a likley candidate for the extent of the fire damage and not the root cause. It's a good job the plastic cover is flame retardant.

Does get hot when I chain it, but only around the battery area and nothing I would describe as unusual

JoBo of UKV just posted that Barsardo has a warning and got a response from Cloupor linkthat's OK then there are an order of magnitude more faulty ones than we were aware of, so far. Agree, come on clouper come clean, was these 50 human error, ie bad soldering etc or have all got a potential fault.

Makes no sense trying to make it burn up @letsavit, certainly isn't safe.
If it should happen to a forum member, and the vendor doesn't want it sent back, bear in mind the AAE-C CSIs would love to investigate.

The first thing I will do is remove the cover cut off a bit of glue and a apply a flame to it when I get mine.
