I ordered some Catnip yesterday via link Chrissie had put on a thread - can't find it now!!
I ordered the 'spiders' - it's for my friend's kitty.
What do cats do with it? Just play around with it? Does it's smell or whatever it is - run out?
It won't hurt her at all - will it? She is about a year old now.
I like to take a little treat for her when I visit and, after reading the thread, I thought this might be a good idea.
??? MM

nice to see catnip fever is taking off It won't hurt her in the slightest, the ''worst'' that will happen is that the cat will be disinterested in it but normally with a bit of ''persuasion'' you can get them to like it If you have ever seen two cats playing together (as kittens or whatever) then this will be similar behaviour to what the cat will do with catnip.. e.g rolling around, ''rabbit legging'' it, licking it and rubbing up it. As the catnip ages the smell will diminish to the point where some catnip you buy in shops is pretty much inactive. The fresher it is, the stronger the smell.... some cats prefer it stronger but some prefer it when it has been aged a bit This would be the link you can't find www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190446928698EDIT: I forgot to add, you may find the cat(s) may get quiet protective of it and won't want you to take it away (watch your hands )

Tom is spot on MM Catnip wont harm her at all - most cats love it, but the odd one doesn't react to it at all. Lol Peekay, I've bought it loose in the past so know what you mean

Yes, Scyll a lovely Vid.
Chrissie, that's what Dotty did when I took one over to her - Rolled around with it - licked it. Laid on it. Then she had a good sniff of me, then something to eat, then back to the spider - giving it cuddles. Then she went out!!! See what tomorrow brings. MMa
But I think she likes it. It's funny seeing her go all swoony with it. See what she's like tomorrow.

I watched a similar video to that a while ago. They looked at all the big cats (using a bag of plain leaves from a normal bush as a control as cats are, obviously, naturally inquisitive) It turned out (much to my surprise)not all big cats are affected by it. Lions (IIRC) reacted the same to catnip as they did to the bag of regular leaves, I think cheetahs were the same. Tigers and leopards however behaved the same as our house cats do and went crazy for it EDIT: just skipped the rest of that vid to see our other big cat friends mentioned in it too I saw a different one, on brainiacs or something IIRC.
